Day to Day:
Insight Global is seeking a Travelling Data Center Superintendent to join one of our commercial construction clients. This is a permanent role that is 100% travel based. The first project is located in Quincy, Washington. Travel compensation (including relocation) will be provided for the duration of the project schedule. After the project is over, travel will be required throughout the United States--the company has offices in Virginia and Colorado where existing teams travel to new projects. The MEP Superintendent will provide On-Site Supervision and serve as the sole representative of the company on each project. The first project is located in Quincy, Washington. This is a 15 month $40M Phased, active data center renovation. Safety and Quality are paramount for project to be defined a success. Turnovers include MOP development, High-End MEP renovations, CSA scopes of work and Commissioning at the End of Each Phase. Phases are roughly 3-4 months in duration, and the first turnover is End of June. Work is scheduled to be 5-6 days per week in duration, existing staff is to be utilized to staff project accordingly. Owner-furnished equipment is to be managed by the team. Management of on-site trade workers is expected to be 30 at peak in multiple locations of facility. This project involves cutting over live MEP systems to existing systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide On-Site Supervision and serve as the sole representative of the company throughout the United States
- Provide construction insight to the project team throughout the construction project
- Utilization of Procore, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office/Teams for all project/team communications
- Ensure proper, accurate and informative reports are being sent out to the team
- Manage field staff and schedule internal labor to cover all project sites as necessary
- Create, develop, implement Requests for Information (RFIs) in accordance with a solution based outcome
- Discuss project plan, schedule and scopes with prospective bidders to get the most accurate proposals possible
- Review change orders to ensure all incurred direct costs and related time is included to maximize profit
- Review subcontractor scopes and any requests for additional compensation to determine if additional cost is valid, if it should be passed to the owner or if it is an incurred cost. Superintendent should minimize company costs through proper preconstruction input and planning, understanding project documents and using creative ways to mitigate extra company costs.
- Work directly with the Project Manager to understand current status of budget and assist managing the project finances to maximize profit.
- Verify with project team that proper documentation is reviewed, submitted and approved correctly to mitigate risk.
- Be the main subject expert on subcontractor scopes, project scope and project documents for on-site work execution.
- Utilize Procore Quality Management to prevent, minimize, inspect, track and close deficiencies on site.
- Provide guidance and provide urgent solutions for project problems to keep project moving and on track.
- Manage and oversee the field team, functions, responsibilities by following up and holding the company employees accountable
- Build and manage client relationship and instill confidence in client
- Communicate project progress – mainly schedule, quality and safety updates - and status to supervisors efficiently and effectively through project reports.
- Plan and look ahead to recognize and avoid potential issues and delays
- Coordinate subcontractor meetings and oversee team’s preparation and effectiveness in meetings
- Responsible for overall site safety and safety practices on the site
- Review project budgets to understand company related costs, GCs and GRs and develop plans and strategies to work within budget constraints
- Assist in bidding and procuring work – project accurate proposal schedules, build complete project scopes and provide constructability reviews during the bidding phase which may include site walks and interviewing potential subcontractors
Salary : $150,000 - $170,000
