We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant specializing in Inventory and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) to join our dynamic finance team. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Senior Accounting Manager. This role will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of inventory accounting and COGS analysis, ensuring accurate inventory valuation, proper recording of transactions, and detailed analysis of COGS to support financial reporting and business decision-making.

oMaintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely and accurate recording of inventory transactions.
oPerform regular inventory reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
oEnsures that physical inventory counts are completed monthly at each store location, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
oMonitor and analyze inventory movements, including purchases, transfers, and adjustments.
oCalculate and analyze COGS to ensure accuracy and completeness.
oPrepare detailed COGS reports and variance analysis.
oMonitor and analyze cost trends, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide recommendations.
oCollaborate with operations and procurement teams to understand cost drivers and implement cost control measures.
oIdentify opportunities for process improvements in inventory and COGS accounting.
oDevelop and implement policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
oCollaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve data integrity.
oMaintain and control the general ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as in compliance with Corporate Accounting guidelines.
oPrepare monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
oReview and analyze financial information, prepare financial reports and accounting statements for senior management to accurately and timely make financial decisions.
oDevelop internal processes to adhere to changing business requirements and evolving business regulations.
oAssume additional responsibilities and assist with projects as needed.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience in a high growth environment.
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principal (GAAP), Financial systems and processes.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to decipher large amounts of data to deliver actionable insight.
- Functional expertise in accounting systems (including Sage/Mas90, Hyperion, SAP, Oracle etc.) and financial modeling experience using advanced Excel functions including pivot tables, financial and statistical functions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong presentation skills.
- Understand the relationship between different costs and cost drivers and how to classify certain costs within the P&L. Ability to influence cross-functional teams to initiate cost reduction programs.
- Drive for results - Must be proactive, high-energy, results-oriented, and willing to drive change. Ability to meet deadlines under time constraints. Strong listening skills and attention to detail.
- Perseverance - Must work well under pressure and understand the importance of meeting deadlines. Resilience to change, working under pressure and lean organizational structure. Occasionally required flexibility to work outside of normal business hours (i.e. Period close).
- Priority & Process Management - Well-developed Planning & Organization skills to manage multiple projects and priorities. Must have a high degree of self-direction with the ability to constantly seek innovative ways to perform tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
- Understanding of basic internal financial measures such as EBITDA and Cash flow.
- Proven ability to manage reconciliations timely and accurately.
- Must be highly proficient in Microsoft office suite of applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
