Job Description: Tester
PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Division of Welfare and Supportive Services’ (DWSS’) Child Support Enforcement Program is undergoing a technology modernization initiative to replace the child support portion of the aged Nevada Operations of Multi-Automated Data Systems (NOMADS) application with modern technology. This initiative includes a larger grouping of technical and business components that make up the current Child Support system.
Modern technology will better satisfy federal and state processing mandates, upgrade aging software architectures, and offset and avoid expensive future maintenance costs. The Feasibility Study Report documented the federally prescribed process that the DWSS undertook to define functional and technical requirements for the replacement system and to objectively select the best system replacement alternative.
The replacement system is referred to as NVKIDS.
The DWSS has set high expectations for NVKIDS. The system must effectively interface with external partners, systems, data exchanges, as well as with customers. It must also be intuitive and user-friendly for both beginning and experienced users and operate in an efficient and cost-effective manner. To achieve these expectations and overcome limitations with the current child support system, NVKIDS must be able to adapt to changing business needs and be characterized as maintainable, extensible, flexible, and reliable.
SCOPE OF WORK:
- Develop scenario-based test cases.
- Proficiency with functional and scenario testing.
- Develop checklist scenarios for regression testing.
- Identify defects in mobile and web applications from overall application design to functionality.
- Identify defects in Windows applications from overall application design to functionality.
- Create automated testing utilizing software such as Selenium.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the systems and tools within the scope of the team’s responsibilities. Maintain working-level knowledge of software testing best practices, tools, and methodologies.
- Actively participates in quality and continuous improvement initiatives within the scope of the team’s responsibilities.
- Maintains basic knowledge of the technologies and practices of the system
- Experience with Git/GitHub or other version control systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Candidate should have the ability to work well as an individual and with a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
1.The capability to perform the functions described in the Scope of Work
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, management information systems, or other disciplines related to the assignment and two years of experience creating test cases scenarios, automation, data conversion testing.
- Demonstrated proficiency in building professional collaborations
- Experience with Defect/Bug tracking process
- Proactive nature with proven ability to solve conflicts and problems
- Demonstrated attention to quality and accuracy
- Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently towards goals in complex, diverse environments with multiple and changing demands
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- High degree of proficiency with advanced features of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, etc.)
Strong Technical testing background with software project development lifecycle, including but not limited to:
- Systems testing to verify critical business process components
- Data Migration/Conversion Testing experience
- Interface Testing using batch and Web Services with external partners/agencies
- Knowledge or experience in Business Objects Reports Testing
- Support Smoke test on Implementation
- Post-implementation support
- Incorporate/validate State mandates (statutes and regulations)
- Meeting milestone deliverables with goal of meeting strategic timelines.
- This is a remote position; candidate is expected to work Pacific Time hours
- Vendor will provide, Computer (laptop): Windows 10 0s (64-bit), 8-16 GB Ram, Minimum 100 GB Hard drive, Software: Office 365 with MS Project 2016 and Visio 2016, Symantec SEP, Adobe DC 2015 or newer.
- Travel must be approved in writing in advance by the Department, Request for reimbursement of travel expenses must be submitted on the State Claim for Travel Expense Form with original receipts for airfare, rental cars, parking, lodging and taxi/shuttle etc. The expense form must be signed by the State project sponsor.
