Job Posting for Pharmaceutical Intelligence Manager at Institute for Clinical and Economic Review

The Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER) is an innovative, independent non‐profit health care research organization dedicated to improving the application of evidence throughout the health care system. ICER produces influential public reports evaluating the clinical effectiveness and value of new treatments, tests, and delivery system interventions. These reports have strongly influenced insurance coverage policies and clinical guidelines while gaining prominence within the national debate over the cost of health care. ICER thrives on the entrepreneurial spirit of its employees to empower patients, clinicians, and policymakers in their quest for better care at lower costs. In everything we do, our organization seeks to foster an honest public dialogue about the evidence on effectiveness and value, and to translate this evidence into action to improve patient care.

We are seeking a Pharmaceutical Intelligence Manager to play a key role in ICER’s new‐drug assessment program, assisting with our efforts to identify emerging therapeutics that may be well suited to inclusion in future ICER reports and updates. This position reports to the Director of Pharmaceutical Intelligence and is a full‐time, office‐based position located in Boston, MA. However, flexible work‐at‐home options will be considered for the right candidate. Details on the specific responsibilities and minimum qualifications are provided below. Before going there, however, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are you expert at or interested in learning more about the process of drug development, the FDA approval process, and prescription drug formulary management?
  • Do you possess the critical thinking skills needed to evaluate the prospective place in therapy for drugs in late stages of development?
  • Do you enjoy representing the pharmacist perspective in a multi‐disciplinary team?
  • Are you passionate about using evidence to help ensure patients can fairly access treatments at a fair price while still ensuring investment for future innovation?

If you answered yes to all of the above, then please read on!

  • Maintain and update a list of potential topics, including those submitted by external sources, for ICER’s new drug assessment program
  • Brief ICER colleagues on condition- and treatment-related background information once a new topic has been selected for inclusion in ICER’s new drug assessment program
  • Provide ongoing condition and drug information updates for ICER staff relating to ICER drug assessment reports
  • Contribute to ICER reports by providing pharmaceutical intelligence and representing the pharmacy perspective as needed
  • Support ICER’s report update process through identification of new drugs and significant new research that would warrant revisiting an existing ICER report
  • Serve as a preceptor to any interns or visiting residents on the Pharmaceutical Intelligence team
  • Represent ICER at professional conferences and speaking engagements as needed
  • Manage drug pipeline and horizon scanning subscriptions, databases, and resources

Qualifications
