Position summary
The Entry Level Computer Hardware Technician is primarily responsible for sorting and testing electronic equipment for IRT’s ITAD (IT Asset Disposition) department.
An ideal candidate would be someone who loves electronics--including taking them apart, putting them back together, testing for functionality and sorting components.

Essential Duties:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Organize and maintain incoming inventory, current inventory, and outgoing inventory
- Manage data containing equipment per company policy; ensure security procedures are always followed
- Stock material neatly and in designated areas
- Perform general housekeeping tasks such as sweeping and picking up trash to maintain a clean and tidy workspace
- May assist other techs with sorting, testing, refurbishment, assembly of products (this includes, but is not limited to painting; fixing scratches, dents, and dings; replacing covers and face plates)
- May assist Shipping & Receiving personnel with preparing and packaging of resalable equipment
- Other duties as assigned
- Regular, predictable attendance
- Adhere to all quality and safety practices and procedures including participation in safety trainings identified and assigned by IRT
Qualifications and Education:
- High school education or GED required;
- Associates degree in IT, Computer Programming or related program is a plus!
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in an industrial environment
- Minimum of 1 year of experience sorting, testing or assembling electronic equipment is a plus!
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must have working knowledge of computers
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.; assistant may be available for heavier items.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
- Ability to read, comprehend and complete basic checklists, forms or other related documents
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
- Ability to wear protective paint respirator for extended amounts of time
- Ability to work with hand tools, whether manual or power
- Ability to multi-task while managing time efficiently
- Extremely detail-oriented and accurate
- Must have excellent communication, organization, and prioritization skills
- Ability to be on time and ready to work scheduled shifts
- Ability to work and hit deadlines in a high energy, fast paced environment
- Must be a reliable team member and safety orientated
