Job Description

Job Summary:

The Resource Manager is responsible for managing resourcing of all booked and
opportunity stage projects across Professional Services. This position requires that
the individual be the liaison among the Professional Services department leaders and
Revenue Operations as it relates to resourcing across all work. The Resource
Manager also works closely with Finance, Talent and Culture, and Recruitment to
manage department census and facilitate appropriate staffing across the department
based on aggregate understanding of project requirements. The Resource Manager
must also ensure that project resourcing is prioritized and managed in order to assure
timely delivery and must communicate to appropriate Project Managers and
department leaders resourcing issues that may impact scheduled deadlines. It is also
required that this position enforce company processes by utilizing and requesting all
Project Managers use proper procedures when requesting resources.
Purpose
The Resource Manager will be responsible to:
  • Act as point of contact for resource booking confirmation, conflict resolution, and
development of solutions in support of business goals.
  • Build, maintain, and communicate resource forecasts.
  • Manage and resolve resource booking conflicts.
  • Assist with managing to overall utilization objectives and increasing utilization goals on
the Professional Services team.
Major Accountabilities
  • Run weekly resource meetings and facilitate resourcing issues / conflict resolution with
Professional Services project managers and appropriate department heads.
  • Manage resourcing forecast reports, spreadsheets and analysis for Professional
Services based on input from weekly meetings.
  • Maintain constant knowledge of current and upcoming projects and business
development activities as they relate to resourcing.
  • Work with Professional Services department leaders and Project Managers to identify
appropriate resource requirements for each account and project.
  • Monitor day to day bookings, resourcing, and utilization trends, identifying potential
instances of underutilization and actively work with the Practice Leaders to address and
solve those issues.
  • Work to resolve any issues regarding under or over allocations of current staff members.
  • Run weekly meetings with Professional Services management team to discuss all active
projects and potential new business as well as to stay informed of potential issues such
as resource and change control matters.
  • Receive, analyze and report on weekly utilization reports to the Professional Services
management team.
  • Alert Senior Management team of any potential concerns or issues with meeting key
client deliverables due to resourcing.
  • Manage overall hiring recommendations and forecasts, allowing for onboarding and
ramp up time, based on forecasted resource needs. Ensuring the right resources, with
the right skillsets, available at the right times.
  • Work with departments to coordinate resource forecasts with on demand talent vendors
and facilitate initial discussions necessary to meet specific project requirements. Assist
with managing on demand talent vendors to resourcing, onboarding and utilization
objectives.
  • Identify potential resourcing or process issues and present to Professional Services
management team with resolutions to such issues where applicable.
  • Attend weekly department resource calls as necessary and manage collaboration
process with other department or practice to share resources on an as needed basis.
  • Develop & manage a training program for the Professional Services team, including
curriculum, content development and delivery vehicles with the end goal of maximizing
billable resource utilization.
  • Recommend process improvements for Resource Management.
  • Manage junior staff, as required by business growth.
  • Foster professional growth and development of all direct team members.
  • Perform the above tasks at scale; delegate appropriately to team members.

Qualifications

Employment Prerequisites

  • Bachelors degree required in business administration, information technology,
accounting, or related field required
  • 3-5 years resource management experience in the professional services software
solutions industry.
  • Proficiency in capacity and demand management for professional services project
management and customer delivery resource pools.
  • Salesforce/NetSuite/OpenAir experience required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including Microsoft excel
  • Assertive conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear and concise communication in both written and verbal form.
  • Ability to be diplomatic or firm when necessary in order to drive business forward or
obtain results.
  • Highly detail oriented and able to work autonomously.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and tight deadlines with confidence and ease.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload across multiple groups.
  • Advanced knowledge of multiple project management tools and methods is an asset
  • Experience managing resources across different geographies is preferred, but not
required
