Summary
INTER-OP is currently seeking a System Administrator to provide support to the Medical Research and Development Command (MRDC) at Fort Detrick MD. The MRDC is the Defense Health Agency's (DHA) medical materiel developer, with responsibility for medical research, development, and acquisition. The Command manages a large extramural research program with numerous contracts, grants, and cooperative research and development agreements to provide additional science and technology capabilities from leading academic, private industry, and other government organizations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain platform support for servers operating Windows or LINUX in a physical or virtual (VMware) environment.
- Provide design, development, administration, troubleshooting, documentation, security, debugging and implementation of the hardware, operating system, and application software on Windows or LINUX or newer servers.
- Review and comply with the Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) directives, security updates, Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) patches based on guidance from /Defense Health Agency (DHA) or higher authority.
- Provide comprehensive support functions at two user locations with dedicated resources. The on-site support provides various levels of desktop and server support to the customer.
- Perform migration from physical to virtual server platforms where appropriate and as required.
- Provide management, patching, upgrading, sustainment and resource management services and support for the VMware environment.
- Provide management, patching, upgrading and sustainment support for the VEEAM Storage Management system.
- Provide management, patching, upgrading and sustainment support for Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) 3PAR StoreServ system.
- Recommend methods and procedures to coordinate corrective action to optimize utilization of Storage Area Network (SAN) and tape backup systems.
- Provide configuration management of storage across multiple platforms.
- Provide third level support and troubleshooting hardware and operating system issues.
- Perform software and hardware installations in accordance with applicable security policies and regulations.
- Provide management, patching, upgrading, sustainment and resource management services for the virtual (VMware) environment.
- Provide management, patching, upgrading and sustainment support for the IBM Tivoli Storage Management system.
- Provide management, patching, upgrading and sustainment support for HPE 3PAR StoreServ system.
- Provide LINUX system administration services.
- Manage server-level Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates.
- Install, configure and troubleshoot network and application server hardware and software.
- Perform system backups to ensure restoration of servers and databases.
- Set up and manage user email accounts using the Defense Enterprise Provisioning Online (DEPO) system.
- Manage local Active Directory Organizational Unit configuration.
- Interact with Level I (DHA Global Service Center) to assist in trouble shooting user related errors.
Qualifications / Experience
- BS in Computer Science or related technical discipline (preferred)
- 3 years' experience as a Systems Administrator.
- CompTIA Security Certification
- Security Clearance: Secret
