Position: Safety Instrumented System (SIS) Engineer
Position Type: W2 Contract
Position Location: Sweeny, TX
Overview Responsible for the PLC and shutdown system across the plant. Cross-functional advocate for best practices in the selection, implementation, and maintenance of the SIS asset base to ensure that safety, regulatory, production, and optimization objectives are met.
Basic/Required:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
Familiarity with Safety life cycle
Day to day Responsibilities:
Functional owner of PLC and shutdown system hardware. Assists in the development, implementation, design, specification, and maintenance of Safety and shutdown system hardware.
Review/Update/Approve Cause & Effects, SIL Calculations, and Shutdown Narratives
Accountable for consults/coordinates with Control System Specialists, SIS Engineers, and SIS Technicians to ensure optimum performance and compliance of SIS.
Responsible for providing support to troubleshoot, analyze, and provide direction to safely resolve PLC and shutdown system problems across the refinery.
Responsible for providing technical assistance and expertise regarding SIS for the Control System Specialists, SIS Technicians, and Instrument Technicians.
Responsible for assisting the maintenance activities by provide technical guidance and document any changes related to PLC or Shutdown system.
Accountable to maintain evergreen PLC and shutdown systems inventory list and Obsolescence management plan to track hardware and software rev., identify obsolescence and phased out hardware and firmware across the refinery.
Responsible Perform audits and inspections on PLCs and shutdown systems.
Responsible to support SIS/PLC team technical training and development.
Project Responsibilities:
Assist capital project teams in planning, designing, implementing, commissioning, and validating new and modified SIS.
Accountable for coordinate between Project Engineer, Instrument Engineer, Technicians and Contractors.
Accountable for completing task base schedule and coordinate with operation for the work execution.
Responsible for review scope of work documents through design phase.
Responsible for attend FAT for PLC and Shutdown systems.
Accountable to follow up tasks to the automation project resources through construction and commissioning (SAT/ITP)
Accountable to provide all redlines to instrument project engineer.
Accountable to assist field scope of work to closure.
Participate in the Safety Lifecycle (SLC) activities related to PLC and shutdown system, which may include: LOPA/PHA, design, implementation, commissioning, MOC, and decommissioning
