What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor position at Interactive College of Technology?
Interactive College of Technology, an accredited 2-year degree granting institution, has immediate openings for CBT (Computer-Based Training) Instructors located at the Newport Campus.
The Role
Instructs, mentors, and guides students who are enrolled in the CBT courses to successful completion of all courses according to assigned schedules and course completion dates.
Responsibilities
- Instruct students who are taking courses in the laboratory by using approved course syllabi, lesson plans, and course guides
- Assist students by constantly moving throughout the lab, observing student progress and being proactive in identifying when students are facing challenges with specific courses and/or lessons
- Administer all required exams in a timely manner, evaluate/grade on a timely basis, and provide the student with prompt feedback
- Prepare students to take certification exams on a timely basis. May conduct test prep sessions.
- Input student progress in CBT lessons and courses into the IRIS system on a daily basis
- Review each students’ class schedule and ensure they have a full and complete understanding and has received all required materials at the beginning of each semester
- Review academic activity/progress on a weekly basis
- Provide counseling and advising and document results on student management sheets within the IRIS system, keeping all student management sheets current and available for review
- Maintain an advisee load and accept responsibility for student retention and successful achievement of positive educational outcomes.
- Provide time-to-time assistance with course/program review and revision
- Attend all necessary faculty and in-service meetings
- Ensure students are adequately prepared for the externship experience and visit 1-2 externship or employer sites per month
- Recommend potential Advisory Board Members to Academic Management
- Provide routine maintenance and upkeep of computer lab equipment including inventories and communicating malfunctioning equipment to Technical Services
- Pre-register students & advisees for upcoming semesters
- Work closely with Media Services to identify learning resources to augment classroom instruction and aid students in learning and mastering key concepts
- Work with Academic Management / Student Advisors to identify students who demonstrate patterns of unsatisfactory progress or behavior that may result in withdrawals.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned
Key Qualifications
- Possess a minimum of a BS Degree in a related area and have experience teaching adults. Candidates with an AS Degree and a minimum of three years’ experience in teaching adults will be considered.
- Must be able to complete at least 5 annual professional development activities to ensure staying current in the field. Also responsible for maintaining current industry certifications for courses taught.
- Must maintain the highest possible level of customer service to each student and serve as a conduit to other parts of the institution in order to enhance the student’s opportunity and desire to graduate. Able to constantly provide positive re-enforcement to students.
Part-time hours with the possibility of going to full-time.
Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required.
