FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

LOCATION: 310 Maynard Avenue South

Salary Range and benefits: This position is a full-time, temporary benefited position. Pay will be $24/hr. Includes excellent health coverage and other benefits. This will be a hybrid position, in which some work can be done remotely. The grant for this position ends 12/31/2024.

InterIm Community Development Association (InterIm CDA) is a dynamic community development corporation with deep roots in and a distinguished 55-year history of serving Seattle’s Chinatown/International District (CID). We work to advance social justice and equity for low income, Asian and Pacific Islanders, immigrant, and refugee communities.

Job Summary Purpose: The Financial and Residential Engagement Manager (FRM) will implement a variety of services and activities that have been identified by the communities ICDA serves as a high need. These include the need for economic stability, employment navigation and skill building, housing stability, intergenerational family needs, and health safety services programming. These areas have been identified as spaces where we could leverage our existing resident services knowledge significantly improve the lives of residents in our affordable housing.

The Financial and Residential Engagement Manager (FRM) will work with our WILD youth program, Housing Stabilization, and Resident Services programs. Approximately 70% of this position’s responsibility includes working with our residents and clients to obtain job readiness skills, connect to work related resources, increase their financial knowledge, and obtain employment. The FRM will provide clients with job training opportunities, financial literacy courses, workshops that teach job retention skills and new skills to increase the likelihood of career advancement. The FRM will record clients’ progress and complete reports of program outcomes. The FRM will also work with potential employers to develop job opportunities, our housing stabilization program to coordinate services, and our youth program to provide financial education to the youth.

Resident Engagement will be approximately 30% of this position’s responsibility. This includes holding responsibility for the operational success and implementation of Interim CDA’s Residential Services program in our affordable housing. The FRM will plan, manage, and

implement activities in the following areas: safety, health & wellness, housing stability, and other activities with community members and residents in 5 InterIm buildings in the CID and one in Rainier Valley.

Responsibilities

Financial Empowerment Services

  • Collaborate with organizational programs to screen applicants to assess job readiness, training needs, and any additional resources
  • Develop clear and realistic employment and educational objectives with clients
  • Provide clients with support services to resolve barriers to employment
  • Provide clients with basic job searching skills, such as developing resumes and cover letters.
  • Provide clients with job search and financial education information
  • Develop partnerships with other social service providers and employers
  • Provide clients with budgeting and other financial skills training.
  • Maintain accurate client files
  • Submit monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual reports and invoices as required by funders.
  • Monitor program expenditures to ensure compliance with funding guidelines and budget parameters
  • Attend required staff meetings and trainings
  • Document and maintain program standard operating procedures.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned

Resident Engagement

  • Create culturally relevant curriculum or workshops on specific topics; safety, health & wellness, housing stability in the 6 InterIm owned buildings, five in CID and one in Rainier Valley.
  • Develop and maintain subcontracts with community engagement contractors and assist in recruitment for the program.
  • Identify, cultivate, and nurture existing and potential partnerships for residential service participants
  • Submit monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual reports and invoices as required by funders.
  • Document and evaluate program’s efficacy
  • Assist in managing program contracts and budgets; provide leadership in reporting, invoicing, data collection/tracking and evaluation, and other communication with partners, supporters, and funders.
  • Collaborate with grant writer and other InterIm staff for Residential Services program
  • Collaborate on projects with different departments of InterIm, including the Danny Woo Garden, WILD, Real Estate, Marketing, and Public Policy.
  • Assist in facilitating & supervising community group meetings, workshops, activities, and community forums

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services, social work, education, public policy, or related field desired. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be substituted for formal education.
  • Understanding of issues related to poverty, homelessness, social justice, and social service systems that serve low income people.
  • Successful experience working within a culturally and linguistically diverse environment
  • Experience working with communities of color
  • Oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Passion related to the CID, immigrant and refugee communities, communities of color in Seattle.

Ideal Qualifications

  • 1-3 years working in a relevant field providing a combination of direct services and education services to a community facing issues of injustice in society
  • The ability to speak one of these languages at a conversation or greater level, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Somali, Oromo, Tigrinya, Tagalog, amongst others.
