This position is part of the Southwestern Native Aquatic Resources and Recovery Center. You will perform a variety of duties in support of Center programs.

Although no specific amount of experience, education or training is required, applicants must meet a minimum level of ability in relation to the position and the Assessment Questionnaire in order to be rated qualified for consideration. To be qualified candidates must meet any screen out element(s) listed at an "acceptable" level, and must achieve an average rating of at least "acceptable" on all of the elements. Only education, training, or experience acquired before the closing date will be considered.

Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP) or Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP): These programs apply to employees who have been or may be involuntarily separated (e.g. reduction in force, declining to relocate/transfer outside their local commuting area) from a Federal service position within the competitive service or Federal service employees whose positions have been deemed surplus or no longer needed. Responsibilities:


Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Build, modify, or make repairs on new or existing office buildings or residential structures
  • Use farm-type tractors and towed or attached equipment as appropriate to maintain grounds, road medians and trails
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, or repair sewage or drainage systems
  • Maintain and repair existing plumbing systems including standard residential and/or commercial plumbing systems and fixtures

Physical Effort:

The employee is frequently required to perform heavy lifting and exerts considerable physical effort while using hand and power tools. Work requires extensive leg, arm, and hand movement, standing, stooping, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee frequently lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and over 40 pounds with assistance. The employee uses jacks, pulleys, dollies, or other lifting and carrying devices. Work may be from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, or high places, and in hard-to-reach places.

Working Conditions:

The employee works outside in all kinds of weather, frequently exposed to running water, fumes, dust, grease, and dirt, and moving parts of equipment and machinery. Employee is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, falls, falling material, or injury from equipment and hazards associated with power equipment or hazardous materials. The employee may be required to wear protective clothing,, such as hard hats, steel-toed shoes, gloves, earplugs, safety glasses or goggles, masks, respirators, aprons, and other personal protective equipment.
