Job Description:
Safe and Healthy Families is an integrated medical and behavioral health outpatient clinic that specializes in treating children and adolescents with histories of trauma and abuse. Safe and Healthy Families employs a diverse team of clinical social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, child abuse pediatricians, nurses and medical social workers. Psychologists at Safe and Healthy Families are part of a multidisciplinary team, conduct brief psychological testing and clinical assessments, provide evidence-based therapy to children and adolescents, participate in weekly staff meetings, and provide supervision to psychology students rotating in the clinic. Candidates applying for the position should have experience providing therapy to children and families and have foundational knowledge of trauma and evidence-based treatment. Ideal candidates would be two years post-licensure and eligible to provide clinical supervision.Position Details
This position is for the Primary Children's Center for Safe and Healthy Families that will be located at the new Primary Children's Miller Campus in Lehi slated to open in February 2024. Initial training for this position will start in December 2023 at the Safe and Healthy Families clinic located in the Primary Children's Eccles Outpatient Services Building in Salt Lake City, UT. Depending on preferences, there may be options to continue working one day a week at the Salt Lake location. Our clinic is open Monday through Friday with extended business hours. Exact schedule can be negotiated.
Job Essentials
- Assesses the patient's medical history, mental health history, and current presentation to understand the patient's needs from treatment.
- Diagnoses and treats various mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.
- Develops a plan of care either individually or with input from the patient, patient family/significant others, physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
- Provides treatment based on patient need and evidenced based interventions.
- Refers patients to other services to improve their well-being. These referrals may include community services, treatment programs, support groups, and/or psychiatrists (or other mental health providers).
- Properly documents pertinent information in regard to the patient's plan of care.
- Works with the multi-disciplinary team to develop a discharge plan in order to provide further care, services, and referrals in order to ensure continuity of care.
- Provides psychological testing as indicated by the patient condition.
- Complies with federal, state, local and clinical program/facility standards.
- Provides care and treatment within the scope of the Mental Health Practice Act.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D) in Psychology. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
- Current Utah license as a psychologist.
- Psychologist will adhere to all appropriate standards of practice as outlined by the American Psychological Association, State Licensing Board, and Intermountain Healthcare.
Preferred Qualifications
- Spanish Speaking
- Experience in a behavioral health outpatient setting.
- Two years post-licensure
- Training in evidence-based treatments for trauma
Physical Requirements:
- Ongoing need for employee to see and assess various nonverbal cues used in patient diagnosis/assessment in order to understand and develop treatment options.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, as well as hear and respond quickly to emergent needs or issues that may arise with patients.
