Job Description:
This position is responsible to ensure that that equipment is available and ready for use in patient rooms and is both safe and convenient. Additionally this position ensures that equipment is accounted for correctly and acts as a liaison with materials management to ensure appropriate levels of stock on the unit.Day Shift: 36 Hours
Scope
- Continuously monitors cardiac rhythm ensuring the patients' ECG is observed. Accurately interprets ECG rhythms and promptly reports changes from baseline to register nurse. Recognizes changes in ECG baseline and documents findings patient chart to communicate ECG history for multiple discipline to review.
- Measures ECG data; Rate, Rhythm, PR, QRS, QTC intervals correctly with minimal assistance. Accounts for telemetry packs determining each pack in use has an ECG rhythm associated with it.
- Maintains specified telemetry equipment. Prepares telemetry ECG packs with new battery and ECG leads prior to patient admission. Cleans telemetry ECG packs at patient discharge and allocates telemetry pack to correct storage space preparing ECG pack for the next patient. Implements crash cart check according to hospital policy at the start of each shift, ensuring availability of functional crash cart.
- Maintains admission/discharge log book providing back up data base. Assists in tracking patient location when off telemetry monitoring for procedures, does not place monitor in standby mode during this time, communicates with RN when patients has returned ensuring ECG rhythm is visualized at central station. Provides interdisciplinary team with patient ECG data as requested to expedite delivery of patient care. Informs CNS, RN or CN when patient leads are off ensuring visualization of ECG rhythm at all times. Provides complete patient ECG history to on coming monitor technician ensuring continuity of care.
- Assists in training new associates by sharing knowledge and skills.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
- May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED is required Must pass a basic dysrhythmia test prior to completion of orientation
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval
- No prior experience is required
Preferred
Prior work experience in a comparable health care setting is preferred

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
