0.1 Baler operators bale waste material, load waste materials into rail cars and trucks, and measure and record the weight of waste shipments.
0.2 Baler operators report to the Corrugator supervisor.
1.0 Primary baler operator duties / responsibilities include:
1.1 - following all safety rules and practices;
1.2 - accurately weighing waste bales, and recording bale weights on bale tallies;
1.3 - loading waste bales into rail cars;
1.4 - feeding waste into the shredder/hogger;
1.5 - obtaining waste loads from production areas as directed;
1.6 - maintaining a clean and organized baler room;
1.7 - loading seconds and other non-shredded waste into trucks for shipment;
1.8 - working with returned goods;
1.9 - cleaning the baler and notifying maintenance of problems as necessary;
1.9a - daily cleaning out the overflow box;
1.9b - daily cleaning out the box behind the chute and the area in front of the chute;
1.9c - daily cleaning out the twister / inserter box;
1.9d - daily blowing out the radiator;
1.9e - daily cleaning out behind the ram following safe practices;
1.9f - daily blowing off or vacuuming the baler exterior;
1.9g - daily sweeping the baler room floors; and
1.9h - monthly oiling the baler twister and inserter chains
1.9i - changing the diverter overflow box filters every three months;
1.10 - salvaging materials for protection sheets and other uses;
1.11 - receiving materials and supplies; and
1.12 - performing other duties as directed by the Corrugator supervisor.
2.0 The qualifications for baler operator are the ability to perform the duties / responsibilities of the job with or without accommodation; the certified ability to safely operate a fork lift truck; the ability to accurately use the scale located in the baler room; the ability to read, write, and speak English; the ability to use basic shop math; the ability to accurately read and record figures; the ability to learn; and the ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team.
2.1 The Corrugator supervisor evaluates baler operator qualifications.
