Under the oversight and guidance of the company’s global ethics and compliance officer, the Senior Counsel is responsible for managing IP’s corporate compliance program in LATAM, Mexico and Chile and serves as first point of contact for all LATAM, Mexico and Chile compliance-related issues.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Embraces and fosters the IP Way Forward in all his/her interactions
  • Promotes the Company’s Core Values
  • Implements the Ethics Program Developed by the Global Ethics and Compliance Office within LATAM, Mexico & Chile consulting with regional business leaders
  • Deploys compliance policies and procedures and develops region specific policies/procedures based on applicable laws, regulations, rules, guidance and industry standards
  • Conducts internal investigations as directed by the Chief/Deputy Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer, coordinating with other departments as needed and providing recommendations regarding the appropriate resolution.
  • Supports IP’s HelpLine Process
  • Ensures LATAM, Mexico & Chile compliance with GDPR, implementing privacy policies and procedures and overseeing the Company’s response to data breach allegations, and acting as a point of contact for data protection authorities
  • Acts as a point of contact for data protection authorities and conducts risk assessments related to privacy regulation compliance
  • Conducts periodic risk assessment to identify gaps in the Company’s regional compliance program. Prioritizes region-specific risks and develops strategies to address gaps, including monitoring procedures.
  • Implements the Global Ethics and Compliance Office training modules within the region and conducts any region-specific training to enhance global training program’s effectiveness.
  • Coordinates any regional compliance committee activity and communicates committee recommendations to the global ethics and compliance office.
  • Develops and conducts compliance training program including antitrust and anticorruption, monitoring the effectiveness of these program and implementing enhancements as required.
  • Develops and Implements monitoring and reporting procedures to ensure that local and regional management, along with the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer, has sufficient knowledge of the current state of compliance within the region
  • Monitors Regional Antitrust, anti-corruption and data privacy regulations, providing regular updates to the Global Ethics and Compliance Office as well as recommending changes to the internal guidelines, policies, procedures and training program when appropriate.
  • Develops and deploys a plan for region specific policies development, SOPs, guidance etc. based on prioritized needs in coordination with global compliance and other functions
  • Interacts with business units and potential business partners in conducting compliance due diligence on business partners and acquisition candidates.

The Position will have a high degree of responsibility for providing excellent counsel and building a strong relationship with the business and staff functions across LATAM, Mexico & Chile.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 10 Years of Relevant Experience in LATAM, Mexico & Chile (multinational or equivalent company). Candidate’s experience should include corporate compliance and ethics, or compliance related areas.
  • Specific experience in a wide range of corporate compliance topics such as antitrust, anti-corruption, fraud prevention, trade restrictions and embargoes, data privacy laws etc.
  • Proven track record in identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to build effective relationships and networks
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Languages: English, Spanish & Portuguese languages proficiency – verbal and written
