What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deckhand - Towing Vessel position at Intracoastal Marine, Inc?
A. Primary Responsibilities - The Deckhand will work as directed by the vessel Master or other superior.
B. Maintenance – The Deckhand is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of the Vessel’s interior and exterior spaces, equipment and tools excluding engineering spaces. The Deckhand is also responsible in a secondary role for the engineering spaces.
C. Regulatory, Industry, and Company Compliance - The Deckhand is required to be aware of and comply with regulatory, industry, and Company requirements affecting the operation of the tug, barge and crew. This includes, but is not limited to; compliance with the Towing Safety Management System, reporting unsafe conditions to the Master, and taking action to prevent accidents.
D. Cleanliness – The Deckhand is primarily responsible for the cleanliness of the Vessel’s interior and exterior spaces, equipment and tools excluding engineering spaces. The Deckhand is also responsible in a secondary role for the cleanliness of the engineering spaces.
E. Deck Responsibilities – The Deckhand is responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities
DAILY
1. Wake up 30 minutes prior to watch
2. Cook meals as directed by captain
3. Empty trash daily in the galley, head, and wheel house
4. Sweep and mop wheel house, passage way, galley, head and bunkroom floors
5. Wipe down galley counters and all appliances
6. Clean entire head, toilet, and shower
7. Make sure food is rotated in refrigerator and cabinets and they are clean
8. Check all deck gear, lines, wires, and associated equipment and report discrepancies to the captain.
9. Wash down outside boat if water level allows.
Weekly
1. Wash/Rinse down boat with diluted simple green and water
2. Keep paint locker clean and organized take inventory and request replacement paint as needed
3. Keep boat rust free by wire wheeling, needle gun, priming and painting
4. Remove all food from cabinets and refrigerator and clean using appropriate cleaning solution.
5. Clean under and behind all appliances
Return to Dock
When the tug returns to the dock or arrives at a facility where you have access
1. Empty all trash from the boat to an appropriate container and log entry in waste log
2. Wash down exterior of the boat from top to bottom with soap and water
3. Resupply common items needed toilet paper, paper towels, etc.
4. Fill fresh water tank/tanks
5. Sweep and mob galley, head, passageway floors
6. Make sure all deck equipment is properly secured or stowed.

Pay: $200.00 - $300.00 per day
