A Benefit Analyst works on a team with a Benefit Consultant and an Employee Advocate. This dedicated team helps service a group of clients (a book of business). Benefit Analysts handle a wide range of analytical and renewal responsibilities and are key members of the Intrepid team. This is a hybrid position with employees reporting to the Denver, CO office two days per week for collaboration days. This is an hourly non-exempt position with an annual salary ranging from $70,000 to $85,000.

Position Responsibilities

  • Actively manages the renewal process along with the Benefit Consultant
  • Manages renewal negotiations with the insurance/stop loss carriers
  • Manages RFP process for medical, Rx, dental, vision, life, DI, and voluntary benefits
  • Builds relationships with carriers and vendors
  • Prepares spreadsheets to display and communicate renewal plan information
  • Creates the formal renewal proposal to include renewal analysis, contribution modeling, benchmarking, and recommendations
  • If needed, assists Benefit Consultant in presenting the renewal proposal to the client
  • Processes carrier changes and new business submissions at open enrollment
  • Manages the financial analysis and reporting for specific large accounts
  • Updates/documents renewal plan information into Benefit Zone (CRM)
  • For self-funded clients, creates monthly or quarterly claims analysis report to send to the client
  • Actively participates in training programs to enhance benefit industry knowledge

Knowledge/Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Two years of experience in benefits
  • A working knowledge of employee benefit plans, understanding of self-funding, as well as ancillary coverage such as life, disability, dental, vision, and voluntary insurances
  • A Colorado Life and Health license (can be obtained after hire)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Strong project management skills
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Highly organized & accurate
  • Ability to work and complete multiple tasks under aggressive timeframes
  • Independent thinker, offering suggestions for new and forwarding practices
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team
