JOB TITLE: Network Technician
Reports To: Director of Construction Status: FTE, STI Eligible
SUMMARY
This position is primarily responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of a fiber-based telecommunications networks in one or more geographical locations, including responding to maintenance requests regarding system outages and failures as well as deployment of network equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following:
· Performing installation, testing, and commissioning of network equipment.
· Troubleshooting system failures and outages on the network and working to restore services in an expeditious manner.
· Monitoring and evaluating network performance to maintain and improve service levels.
· Engaging with and managing third party partners that are responsible for the oversight, restoration, and recovery of the network.
· Managing the customer installation process and engaging directly with the vendors and customers as needed to ensure a positive customer experience.
· Scheduling and managing upgrades and maintenance to the network with either no impact or known and defined impact to the service network.
· Ensuring financial management controls (from order-to-bill) and additional assurance needs considering all stakeholders, internal and external.
· Other duties as assigned.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Accountable for ensuring uptime of the network infrastructure and customer delivering network while minimizing operational expenses for Intrepid by managing installation, repair, and maintenance.

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
1-2 years experience in a related field and position, with 5 years related directly to maintaining, operating, and installation equipment in a large fiber-based network preferred.
Technical degree with related field of study preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Fluent in English language is required, and ability to speak/write in Spanish and other languages is desirable. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write detailed and instructive correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and large group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform simple through complex mathematical analysis as related to the field of interest. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Internet Software; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word) and Electronic Mail Software (Outlook), presentation software (PowerPoint), scheduling software (Project), design software (Vizio, others), and project management and financial software.
