JOB DESCRIPTION
Our Controller will play a critical role as the leader of our accounting team. This position will manage four team members and report directly to the CFO. The Controller will play an important role in providing strategic and financial planning and department leadership. The position requires strong managerial and interpersonal skills and excellent analytical and communication skills.
Ideal candidates are hands-on, detail-oriented, thorough, analytical, and possess good reasoning and communication skills. Our team members are able to multi-task, compartmentalize, prioritize without explicit direction, and work in a fast-paced environment.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA with a minimum of 5 years’ experience with exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, and cost control principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Previous experience as an accounting supervisor or manager
- Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, and standards
- Excellent computer skills; strong Microsoft Office skills required with an emphasis on formulas and effective presentation of information
- Proficiency with accounting software
- Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Self-motivated, driven, and able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
- Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members
- Will be available and accessible Monday through Friday 8:00 – 4:30 p.m. and other times as the position requires
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail in all areas of work
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax compliance, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses
- Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations
- Manage receivables process and ensure accurate and timely invoices and statements to customers
- Manage payables process and ensure accurate and timely payment to vendors
- Manage payroll process and ensure accurate and timely payment to employees
- Oversee all payments made for debts, bank loans, and other large quantities of money
- Manage month-end closing process accurately and timely and prepare monthly financial statements in conjunction with Company deadlines
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations of cash, debt and various asset and liabilities accounts
- Oversee and ensure an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts
- Advise on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management and CFO
- Assist with interim and year-end audits
- Work with CFO on implementation and recommendation of best practices throughout accounting team
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding tax filings and reporting
- Ensure Company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements
- Additional Controller duties as needed
Salary : $98,200 - $124,000
