POSITION SUMMARY
The Product Reliability Technician position supports the execution for prototype and
validation developments for all internal and external customers as requested. Prototype and
validation project operations are performed by adapting and applying engineering techniques and
manufacturing methodology to produce a high-quality product per the customer-defined
requirements with the ability to make detailed observations, tests and inspections; perform
analysis of project to improve the assemble and manufacturing method and process based off of
lean manufacturing practices.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
Perform part fabrication from a variety of materials such as metal, wood, composite, high density foams and other like materials as required
Able to apply and remove safely decorative materials used in aircraft interiors parts including but not limited to fabric, laminate, tedlar, veneers and other like materials used in aviation industry
Ability read and interpret 3D cad drawing formats, 2D drawing, repair orders, manufacture documents and other applicable data as required to perform task assigned
Ability to perform a variety of composite/fiberglass, sheet metal, and wood repairs to interior components
Perform fabrication, repair, and refurbishment of interior parts to include but not limited to filling and fairing, bonding, sealing, replacement of parts, rivets, inserts, and another interior item hardware
Prep items for prime, paint, varnish and finish materials application
Ability to apply multiple techniques used in aviation finishing industry to include the application of primer, paint, hi build polyester, and other clear coat materials with the ability to achieve different finish styles
Ability to fabricate forms and molds both A/B side and incorporate standard design methodology used in thermoforming and vacuum forming of part design
Use of forms and molds to thermoform part with and understanding of vacuum systems function as it relates to thermoforming of parts and the variety of materials used in this method of manufacturing
Proficient use of air and power hand tools and other related shop equipment
Complete the required documentation of work performed accurately and legibly per company policies
Ability to be a self-starter, with ability to problem solving and adapt product changes to meet final design intent with little to no instruction using best practices
Clean, lubricate and perform preventive maintenance on all shop equipment used within assigned area.
Set up and maintain 5S practices within shop floor and assigned shop area
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education:
High school diploma/GED
Composite and/or structures experience required
Experience:
Generally, 5 or more years’ minimum experience in area of responsibility
Experience in aviation production/manufacturing environment preferably in the aviation industry working with hand tools and standard shop machinery
Possess the skills to perform most of the standard tasks within the technical area assigned to.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Prototype and validation technician role will require the intermediate skills and /or knowledge to perform most of the standard tasks within the technical area assigned.
Able to understand and utilize technical data such as 3D models, 2D drawing, blueprints, work instruction, and other technical documents as required for fabrication, test fixtures, and validation testing as assigned
Must have knowledge of design techniques and methods used in production/ testing for example, assembly methods, tools, precision technical plans, assembly/ repair manuals, mechanical and electrical components and systems function.
Have working knowledge of most basic hand tools, electric/pneumatic tools, and large standard shop tooling used in production shop floors
Ability to rapidly learn and apply the application of new concepts and technical information to support a variety of different functional areas
Skills to be broadly applied to multiple functional areas within prototype and validation shop areas
Working Conditions / Environment/ Special Requirements
Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations.
Must be able to lift 50 Lbs. unassisted.
Must be able to work overhead, in a confined space, climb, and/or other physical activity to perform assigned task.
Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts as required
If required to perform tasks that require the use of a respirator, Employee must have the ability to wear a respirator as per the OSHA 29CFR 1910.134 “Respirator Protection” regulations with no restrictions that would prevent the use and/or seal of respirator
