SUMMARY:
This internship is designed for Tribal Team Members interested in gaining practical experience in the operations of Community Relations, specifically, Community Relations Coordinator.
The Intern will have the opportunity to gain up to 2000 hours (1 year) of on-the-job training, education and experience necessary to understand and perform the duties of the position by successfully completing all tasks and assignments listed in the Intern Work Plan Outline. Additionally, Interns will participate in LEAP trainings to gain leadership skills, computer training, and may acquire trade-specific certifications(s), or attend off-site trainings, in order to enhance their skills and broaden their service knowledge.
The Community Relations Coordinator Intern will acquire the skills necessary to be responsible for coordinating, implementing and evaluating all casino community relations and developing more team member awareness and involvement in community affairs. The Intern will work directly with day groups and casino line runs, provide information and assistance, as well as encourage, build and sustain positive relationships in the community and surrounding cities.
Upon successful conclusion of the Community Relations Coordinator program, Interns will receive a certificate of completion.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED required, some college preferred. One year related experience in sales, marketing, banquets & catering, and/or training preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. One to two years of office experience preferred.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be an enrolled PRCI Tribal Member. Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record. There is minimal supervision of this position, so the ability to effectively perform on one’s own is required. Must possess excellent communications skills, and be computer-literate. Must be able to effectively resolve problems, based on common-sense use of reasoning ability, as well as knowledge of established company policies. Available to travel to community outreach in surrounding cities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Team Members of company.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and %’s such as cost of goods. Reads and understands financial reports within the Marketing department.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk or hear. The Team Member is also regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The Team Member is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Applicant must also be able to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
