As the Engagement Coordinator, reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will ensure the provision of quality resident care in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations while supporting your team by planning, organizing and directing a program of activities. The Engagement Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating and conducting the day to day activities tailored to the needs of individual residents and to ensure that a new sparkle is added daily and not the same calendar week after week. Such activities promotes having fun while providing invigorating the social, recreational, spiritual and physical well-being of our residents. This position recruits and trains a team of volunteers to meet the needs of the activity programs.
Required Schedule:
The standard work schedule for the Engagement Coordinator is from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Tuesday through Saturday. Additional on-call, special occasion, or other attendance needs will apply, as requested by Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Assure an innovative, diversified, and enjoyable activity program appropriate for ALL residents in various stages of aging through creating, planning and implementing activities per company standard.
- Organize a volunteer group composed of individuals whom the Engagement Coordinator has selected and oriented to the assisted living residents’ needs. Match volunteers with areas of interest or talents. Maintain the integrity and enthusiastic participation of the volunteer group through meetings, recognition events, and ongoing involvement in improving the activity program. Assist Memory Care Coordinator with volunteers for the Memory Care.
- Prepare monthly activity calendar by the 20th of each month for the following month. Final copy to be posted by the 1st of the next month.
- Utilizes care staff to escort, encourage and assist in involving and transporting residents to and from activities. Encourages care staff to assist in activity participation. Maintain attendance records of each residents on the approved smart device.
- Coordinate with the Culinary Director in relation to any food program needs. Purchases food, equipment and supplies within budgetary and/or PRD guidelines pertinent to planned activities.
- Keep Executive Director, Community Relations Director, and other management team members apprised of activity program, i.e. monthly plans, special events, activity programs, role in marketing the community, etc.
- Observe resident behavior during activities and report to Executive Director and/or Wellness Director any observations out of the ordinary. Be able to provide Executive Director with immediate information on the status of any resident’s participation in activities, which activities are most enjoyed, etc.
- Maintain activity department’s equipment and materials in good repair and order.
- Maintain financial records of expenses and income ensuring departments are conducted within budget.
- Assist Salize Director as needed or requested.
- Maintain a complete Resident Preference Survey for each resident as a tool for designing individual and group activities.
- Transport residents to and from appointments and activities as needed in coordination with other performing similar tasks.
- Assist in dining room as LOD (leader on duty) during lunch Monday through Friday or any other times as requested by the Executive Director.
- Be available on-call 24 hours for emergencies.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Director.

Requirements
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in written and verbal English.
- Excellent telephone skills.
- Demonstration of ability to establish long-term relationships.
- Interest in working with the older adult population.
- Strong computer experience including thorough knowledge of Word and Excel and ability to use or learn to use database software.
- Ability to travel locally to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Ability to periodically travel overnight.
- Ability to work flexible schedules in 24 hour operation including weekends.
Preferences:
- Three (3) years of experience in a senior care community with proven leadership and organizational skills, state required license/certification for operating an Assisted Living/Memory Care center is desired.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills are required along with the heart and passion to work with older adults while providing the best care possible.
- Proven experience in staffing, leading, developing and retaining a strong team.
- Must have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, to be flexible, to work well with many interruptions and have skill in multi-tasking.
- Respect for the principles of resident rights and confidentiality.
- Experience working with the older adult population.
