What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mold Setter position at IPEX Group of Companies?

We are looking for a Mold Setter to join our injection molding team in Pineville, NC! The successful candidate will change over molds, tooling, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs in and out of the molding machines for the purposes of fittings production. These activities are to be conducted while ensuring and maximizing safety, product quality, production output, housekeeping and cost control to achieve plant goals.
Principal Responsibilities
- Use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices with accuracy.
- Safely operate: forklift, overhead crane, bench grinder, drill press, hand grinder, cut off saw, belt sander, vice, pneumatic and hand tools.
- Set up, install, and changeover injection molds both inside and outside of the molding machine with direct supervision.
- Distinguish between various bolts, thread sizes, water fittings, and hydraulic fittings with limited supervision.
- Fill out pre start forms and paperwork on equipment and daily changes.
- Keep up with housekeeping and tooling / spare parts organization.
- Assist in maintaining conveyors and other shop equipment.
- Trains under close supervision of a B or A mold setter learning proper procedures, safety, mechanical, and electrical aspects of injection molds and their connection to the machines (i.e. core switches)
- Tear down and re-assemble injection molds for preventative maintenance functions.
- Water and pressure test mold cooling circuits to determine where a leak is coming from and fix it sometimes with consultation of machine shop for worn or damaged O-ring grooves / sealing plates.
- Comply with Lockout / Tagout procedures per ISMS 19.0.
Requirements
A high school degree or equivalent is required with the ability to read, write and do basic math.
- Must provide own tools of mold setter trade as related to IPEX effective the first working day.
- Must be qualified through experience or equivalent training as related to injection molds or similar detailed mechanical work involving assembly / disassembly
- Required to have some basic knowledge of the operation of injection molding machines.
- Forklift license and overhead crane experience
