CAD Technician

We currently have an exciting opportunity as a CAD Technician. This role is based in our plant in Pineville, North Carolina and reports to the Mold Tooling Manager. Job Summary The CAD/CAM Technician will create 2D and 3D part drawings and create CAM programs to assist the Mold Technicians and to meet the needs of the Mold department. They will support the development of fixture design as required and provide support to the Mold Manager. This position is ideal for an individual working towards a mechanical engineering degree or design engineering degree. Principal Responsibilities Create 2D and 3D finished part drawings and maintain current part drawings via modifications and enhancements. Use CAM software to create CAM programs for the modification, repairing or improvement of existing or new injection moulds as required. Maintain communication systems between PC and CNC machines to ensure smooth operation Maintain, update and document designs for future revision Participate in engineering and manufacturing design reviews Verify accuracy and complete drawings to specifications Work with engineering and manufacturing team to investigate and resolve problems with existing designs Create appropriate, timely, and accurate drawings that reflect cost effective manufacturing Verify accuracy and complete drawings to specifications Work with project team to complete projects on time and on budget Develop and recommend solutions to design challenges Work with engineering and manufacturing team to investigate and resolve problems with existing designs Qualifications & Experience Completion of Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred. College and/or Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required AutoCAD Certification an asset 1-3 years of experience using CAD/CAM software Experience with AutoCAD, EdgeCAM, AUOTCAD, and Solidworks Inventor preferred Knowledge of 2D CAD drafting and 3D CAD modeling combined with knowledge in plastic part design and assembly Knowledge of CAM programs (EdgeCAM) and CNC machining practices in a shop environment Excellent problem solving, attention to detail and troubleshooting skills Able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization Able to craft or redesign drawings from general written or verbal specifications IPEX is committed to providing accommodations for people with disabilities throughout the recruitment process and, upon request, will work with qualified job applicants to provide suitable accommodation in a manner that takes into account the applicant’s accessibility needs due to disability.
