Role Summary:


As a Web Specialist, you will work with our energetic digital technology group, coordinating assignments with various team members in a fast-paced environment. You will support a variety of client websites and other digital technologies by taking project requirements, communicating status updates to stakeholders, writing and assigning tasks, ensuring that deadlines are met, and checking work to make sure that it exceeds client requirements. You will also be updating content, editing photos, and working on other tasks that require a quick turn-around with a high-level of attention to detail. The Web Specialist will work closely with project managers, assist team members through troubleshooting, and respond to client requests.


What will you be engaged in day-to-day?

  • Working on a variety of client websites with a team of content strategists, designers, developers, and dev-ops engineers.
  • Accepting incoming work from project manager or clients and assigning to team members based on project processes and skill sets.
  • Listening to client challenges and translating into well-written requirements for team members, to enhance communication, reduce errors, and improve efficiency.
  • Prioritizing competing requirements and demands.
  • Learning how to sequence tasks to meet project deadlines efficiently.
  • Monitoring and tracking assignments to ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • Managing tickets in our JIRA task management system in support of the Technical PM.
  • Using your keen attention to detail while performing quality control of project work, ensuring that quality of work adheres to company standards.
  • Interacting regularly with on-site and remote team members to review status of tasks, resolving issues, and negotiating agreements.
  • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders regarding project needs and status.
  • Troubleshooting issues, resolving questions, and overseeing daily activities of project team.
  • Putting your excellent oral and written communications skills to use.
  • Using a range of tools to manage web projects and online collaboration such as JIRA, Wave, CrossBrowser testing, CrazyEgg, Google Analytics, Skype, MS Office 360, and SharePoint, etc.
  • Learning about the various Drupal CMS-based sites we manage for our clients.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What qualifications will help you succeed?

  • A passion for digital technology and a desire to learn more about managing projects in an agile environment, experience with Drupal, and the desire to provide the best customer experience to our clients through active and engaged listening.
  • B.S. or B.A. in computer science/information systems or related field of study, plus 2 years of experience.
  • Prior experience in a client facing role.
  • A willingness to adopt a certain work style for needs of the client.
  • Ability to take detailed notes.
  • Capable of troubleshooting and willing to test or use other environments to answer content questions or resolve issues.
  • Ability to focus on the task at hand.
  • Proficiency with content management systems, such as Drupal, WordPress, or SharePoint. 
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
  • The ability to delegate tasks to a highly matrixed and remote project team.
  • Experience gathering and documenting client project requirements.
  • Ability to identify and communicate project risks to project managers.
  • Desire to always be improving – yourself, workflows, and processes – and the willingness to raise these ideas. 
  • High attention to detail and ability to proofread and perform quality control of others’ work.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and use sound judgment.
  • Self-motivated, with ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project) and MS Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint); advanced Excel skills a plus.
  • Familiarity with JIRA or similar task management systems.
  • Familiarity with and technical knowledge of Web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS) and their appropriate use.

What Qualifications Will Put You at The Top?

  • Experience working with Agile teams.
  • Familiarity with Section 508 compliance is a plus.
  • Familiarity with XML, JSON, JS, SQL and their appropriate use.
  • Knowledge of and experience in at least one of the following: Web analytics software (e.g. Google Analytics), search engine optimization techniques, content management systems (Drupal, preferred), SharePoint, and e-marketing services (e.g. GovDelivery, MailChimp).
  • Knowledge of user experience design, information architecture, usability, visual/graphic design, and related technologies are a plus.
  • Overall desire to learn new things in the digital field which could include mobile technologies, web development, user experience, content strategy, social media marketing, web analytics, or even new applications.
