Director Global Site Activation

Job Overview
Manages several related or unrelated departments of a small sub-function. Some roles may lead one department/team. Focuses on tactical and operational plans with short-to mid-term timeframe (1 - 3 years). Develops new products, processes, standards or operational plans in support of the job function strategy. Manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments. Focuses on policy and strategy implementation for short-term results (1 year or less).

Essential Functions
• Responsible for development, implementation, and strategic direction for delivery of customer requirements by a team/teams within a broad area of site activation, regulatory/ethics submissions, site contracts and/or maintenance activities.
• Fosters a high-performance culture through leadership.
• Cultivates strategic relationships globally and acts a representative across the site activation function and client groups.
• Demonstrates leadership and expertise in site activation processes and develops strategies to increase efficiency.
• Performs operational planning at the department or site activation business unit, including efficient allocation of resources within the department.
• Supports business development selling efforts and may directly represent site activations in functional service opportunities.
• Fosters a culture that drives customer focused solutions, personal accountability and delivery excellence.
• Pro-actively identifies unusual or significant problems encountered during the course of site activation of a clinical trial and proposes and implements strategies for preventing or correcting significant problems.
• Ensures all activities are performed in accordance with all regulations, SOPs, Work Instructions and project requirements either at the global, regional, or country level and all relevant documents under their team are submitted timely to the Trial Master File as per IQVIA/Sponsor requirements.
• Establishes and/or executes goals and objectives for team(s) as well as tracking and delivering on operational/financial performance.
• Participates in the broader family's planning process; establishes long-mid range goals and plans; and coordinates activities with other managers and their respective sub-families.
• Lead and manage site activation staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations.
• Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems.
• Approve actions on human resources matters.
• Effectively direct the hiring and selection process for site activation work collaboratively with senior management to set targets for recruitment and retention across roles.
• Contribute to the provision of strategic leadership and approval for the resourcing process and outcomes, hiring targets and processes and onboarding and training standards.
• Act as a coach and mentor for managers as they develop in their role.
• Lead corporate or departmental quality or process improvement initiatives.
• Act as a client liaison for site activation function.
• Contribute to the formulation of effective strategic goals for Site Activation operations across (sub-) regions.
• Take ownership for strategic initiatives within assigned unit of accountability including development of measures for success.
• Provide leadership to ensure service offerings meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Ensure the improvement of the execution of Site Activation processes. Manage operational delivery to achieve outputs t H1o pre-defined targets.
• Pro-actively plan for appropriate Site Activation operations budget consumption and guideline managers in managing variances and in developing corrective fiscal action plans.
• Provide a leadership role in resourcing process as required through continual evaluation of existing and future resource alternatives, pro-active planning and collaboration with Site Activation leadership and operational peers. Evaluate regional/functional workload, quality and budget metrics through regular review and reporting of findings.
• Collaborate with senior management and other functional leadership to improve efficiencies, project outcomes and quality metrics for Site Activation projects.
• Work collaboratively with client representatives and other functional (site management) leadership to manage project related challenges and to achieve exemplary customer service.
• Effectively communicate and describe all site activation service offerings to internal and external customers. Ensure quality and regulatory appropriateness and acceptance of all service offerings.
• Responsible for making significant improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance of job area.
• Projects and scope of accountability hold greater complexity in terms of issues or problems encountered or organizational  complexity.Requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of site activation processes, projects and tactics within one department or multiple related departments.
• Strong CRO operational experience with a track record in site activiation management working in an international or global capacity.
• Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations, drug development, and clinical project management procedures.
• Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead multiple job areas, the ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree Scientific discipline or health care Pref
• Typically requires a minimum of 7 - 15 years of prior relevant experience. Specific requirements may be further defined by function.
