POSITION SUMMARY
IREX is seeking an ARCHIVING ADVISER to design and deliver a series of workshops and courses for Syrian media partners through IREX’s Supporting Independent Media in Syria II (SIMS-II) program. IREX has several partners (radio, TV and online) that produce Arabic-language broadcasts, including current affairs and news programs, to Syrian audiences.
The adviser will design and deliver a workshop aimed at creating an archiving and video library system for Syrian media outlet partners. The adviser should focus on developing a system which categorizes, labels, and organizes the video and TV content so that it is straightforward to access in a fast moving, multimedia newsroom. The course should look at strategy, archiving tools, and labeling and naming conventions. It should also assess the archiving of live material, archiving of packages, programs, and raw footage. The training will be carried out remotely.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designing and delivering training workshops on archiving and video library systems.
- Working with the partner stations to create a sustainable archiving and video library operation.
- Advise on the best tools and applications to use for archiving and library systems.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum five years’ experience in working on archiving and library operations in media organizations.
- Excellent training and communication skills.
- Demonstrable experience as a trainer and consultant.
- Native Arabic language skills preferred but not required.
