NYC Operations Specialist

Island Creek Oysters (ICO) is a mission-based brand engaged in promoting the development of aquaculture’s role in our food systems—locally and globally.

This hands-on-the-wheel position is responsible for fulfilling the cold chain- transporting and delivering products to our customers. Essentially, it is a driving role; however, it is crucial that this person grasp Island
Creek’s branded approach to service and hospitality, as they will be interfacing with many of our customers.
The NYC driver will need a squeaky-clean driving record, learn or have knowledge of navigating Manhattan and Brooklyn, and have a great attitude. This person will work a Monday through Friday work week, and range from 30-50 hours per week, depending on business and seasonality. This person will act as a liaison between BFT (Brooklyn Fish Terminal) and the NYC Manager, relaying information when needed. This person will communicate about fleet maintenance and report to the NYC Manager when vehicles need service. This person will learn the basics of the rest of our daily order fulfillment regimen so they could be a qualified, local substitute should a team member need sick time or vacation.

The NYC Operations Specialist reports directly to NYC Operations Manager.

ROLE:

• NYC Delivery Driver - safely navigating the streets of Brooklyn and NYC
• Coverage for NYC Operative Position (when needed)
• Interface with Chefs and Other Customers on Daily Route
• Report Problems and Praise back to NYC Operations Manager and Sales Team
• Have a Strong Understanding of ERP, Inventory System and Functionality
• Work to Maintain Clean Trucks, Vans and Warehouse/Cooler
• Provide the Operations Manager Support in the day-to-day
• Help to Maintain Accurate Inventory of Product, Packaging, and Shop Needs
• Fulfill orders for NYC
• Daily Retrieval of product from BFT, and proper handling and storage.
• Track maintenance of all vehicles in the NYC fleet

REQUIREMENTS:

• Driver’s license and clean driving record
• Gain knowledge of how to navigate through Brooklyn and Manhattan
• Good interpersonal skills
• A willingness to do whatever it takes to complete the job at hand

METRICS:

• Quarterly reviews to address performance based on timeliness of delivery schedule and branded approach to customer satisfaction

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

• This is a full time, hourly position at $20/hr.
• All full time employees are eligible for health insurance benefits at 90 days, with Island Creek covering 50% of the monthly premium
