Outage Coordinator - Short-Term

Analyze, study and coordinate near term transmission outage requests with respective generator outage plans to achieve optimum outage schedules that can be reliably implemented while working to minimize overall congestion costs. Additionally, this position supports the Control Room Operators and Hourly Market staff in the Day Ahead Market process by providing detailed analysis and technical support seven days a week, on a rotating 10-hour day shift schedule. This requires frequent and detailed communications with Local Control Centers, Transmission Owners and Generator Owners.   How you will make an impact: Receive and process near term transmission outage requests in accordance with the requirements of NEPOOL Operating Procedure #3 & #5 as well as applicable System Operations Procedures. Perform technical thermal analysis of transmission and generation outage requests resulting from various outage scenarios, using custom software. Support and assist with special studies and determine reliable operating limits for internal and external interfaces to ISO New England. Provide limits for resource required for transmission limits for the day ahead process. Provide analysis and support for stakeholder committees/groups as assigned.   What we are looking for: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, other Engineering disciplines or related technical degree is desirable. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with proven results for troubleshooting, investigating and identifying operational issues and selecting an approach for resolution for outages. Strong communication skills (oral and written) with proven results in coordinating multiple resources to ensure that the correct groups are involved in the resolution. Proven analytical and problem solving skills with experience documenting all aspects of an outage. Experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires the ability to quickly assess system conditions and provide an action plan for resolution. Experience working under pressure.   Desired not required: Experience in an Operations or Engineering support function. Knowledge of System Operating Procedures and Processes, Market Rules, Transmission Operations, demonstrated ability to perform and analyze power flow studies. Maintain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the function and interrelationship of ISO Operations software tools such as EMS, economic analysis and outage scheduling databases.
