Job Description
A service estimator is responsible for assessing customer needs and providing accurate estimates for service projects. This person plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our service team.
The successful service estimator will have a solid understanding of service industry standards and practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
Primary (Essential) Duties
- Create service repair quotes based on compiled information from technicians, customers and service team
- Professionally communicate and deliver quotes to customers
- Follow up on outstanding quotes and maintain prioritization list to ensure effectiveness
- Collect miscellaneous information and parts pricing from various manufacturers and vendors
- Generate new preventative maintenance (PM) proposals at customers' request and specifications
- Review and revise existing PM proposals, balancing the needs of both customer and business
- Other departmental tasks as assigned
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to prioritize work in a dynamic environment while maintaining focus
- Basic knowledge of generators, diesel and gaseous engines, controls, and systems in a plus
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and phone)
- Team player with excellent customer service skills
- Ability to problem solve and think critically
- Strong computer and administrative skills (MS Office, emails, typing, etc.)
Experience/Education Requirements
- Basic parts knowledge of diesel engines and generators (preferred).
- Mechanical aptitude or ability to correlate what technicians prescribe to a comprehensive parts and labor estimate.
- 2 years’ experience in a service department environment, a combination of field and office experience in the engine and/or power generation service industry is preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
