What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Specialist I position at Isoray?

Objective

This position functions with supervision of quality management to perform various aspects of Quality Control within the manufacturing process. Inspect product and records to ensure that the device meets acceptance requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Perform Brachytherapy Seed process activity using established operating procedures. The assays must be carried out in a professional and timely manner in order to maintain shipment schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of assay results and ensure that records are properly reviewed, signed and distributed.
  • Complete the Certifications of Analysis to be provided to the customer with each order.
  • Ensure that all instruments used in the assay procedure are properly maintained, calibrated and any required daily QC checks are performed.
  • Perform testing and examination of components, in process items and finished products as required.
  • Review of production and quality records.
  • Identify nonconforming product and segregate it from good product. Work with operations personnel to resolve discrepancies and issues that lead to nonconformance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability:

  • Detail oriented, with the ability to consistently follow and apply company policy and procedure.
  • Ability to recognize noncompliance and apply approved product dispositions.
  • Skill in interpersonal communication (oral and written). Ability to influence company compliance.
  • Skill in Eye/Hand coordination.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand complex assembly and correct operation of moving devices preferred.
  • Knowledge of personal computing skills, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word documents.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to identify discrepancies, define problems, collect data, establish facts.
