Our large manufacturing client located in East Peoria, Illinois, is looking for a Project Engineer, to add to their team.
Position's Contributions to Work Group:
Manage the supply chain interaction between 6 Sigma Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects and the worldwide drivetrain value streams. Ensure component & prime product facilities, parts, & dealers are working towards the earliest CPI effectivity while minimizing scrap & re-work. This single point of contact will proactively identify & prevent future supply chain issues and be the "go-to SME" on supply chain best practices
Typical task breakdown:
- Ensure awareness of pending/active CPI projects to communicate/manage anticipated impact to the value chain (create single view)
- Proactively collaborate with black belts, purchasing, supply chain, and engineering to phase in / phase out components across multiple worldwide facilities to optimize CPI effectivity & minimize scrap
- Manage service letter inventory requirements & work with service engineering & purchasing to resolve issues
- Provide on-going visibility of expected scrap & CPI effectivity dates
- Obtain component and machine serial number effectivity
- Consolidate reporting & visualizations
- Interface with operations and depot supply chain analysts & provide feedback for drivetrain efficiency gains
- Create/facilitate/manage ISR/PSR (Part Stocking Requests) in close collaboration with product support
- Act as the Supply Chain SME and coach/advise Black Belts on minimizing value chain disruptions
- Identify & implement/leverage process/tool effectiveness improvements
Interaction with team:
This role will work across all Drivetrain systems (Torque Convertors, Transmissions, Axles, Final Drives, Electric Drive, & CVTs) and their corresponding L1-L3 components.
Work with parts depot purchasing team and supply base (Internally & Purchased finished) to optimize transport (regular & expedited) material for dealers/customers
Collaborate with Product Support to manage customer/dealer material stock (short term & long term)
Work environment:
Office environment w/ occasional in-person & virtual meetings/collaboration. Occasional visits/work at production, supplier, or R&D facilities.
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business or an equivalent level of work experience. Three to five years of professional level experience minimum.
Technical Skills
(Required) - Supply chain theory & terminology w/ basic computer skills.
(Desired) Knowledge of other functions that provide inputs regularly, i.e., Product Development, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations. Must have the ability to learn and do quality analysis
Soft Skills
(Required)- Demonstrated excellent project management skills, team leadership skills, and excellent communication skills
(Desired) - Must be very customer focused and can drive change throughout the enterprise effectively. Must be able to manage risk and ambiguity on a project.
