DescriptionDatacentre Operations EngineerJob Type: PermanentLocation: Galway - OnsiteThe Role As a Datacentre Operations Engineer, you will support the day-to-day technology operations of mission critical datacentre. The purpose of this role is to maintain operational stability and handle customer requests while working on shifts to support the operation. You will be responsible for installing and configuring enterprise class technology hardware, troubleshooting hardware and network issues, maintain change control process in the datacentre and support 3rd party vendor activities.Key responsibilities:Manage, maintain, troubleshoot and resolve critical technical issues within the datacentre.Monitor and troubleshoot server, storage, and networking equipment for malfunctions or failures.Install and configure new servers, storage devices, patch panels, routers, switches, and other network components.Conduct capacity assessments of existing infrastructure to ensure that it can support future growth.Maintain detailed documentation of all servers, storage, Network devices configurations and changes made to them.Perform regular backups of data to prevent loss in case of computer failure or theft.Provide technical support for applications and operating systems used in the data center.Write scripts to automate common processes within the data center environment.Monitor energy usage across the data center to ensure efficient operation.Conduct environmental and air quality tests to ensure compliance with federal regulations.Participate in disaster recovery mock drills and procedures.Provide cleared escort as needed to personnel who need access for maintenance, inspection, and other needs.Your Profile Key skills/knowledge/experience:Extensive hands-on datacentre engineering experience.Good knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux & Unix) with the ability to carry out root cause analysis.General knowledge of a physical IT infrastructure (server, networking, storage).Some understanding of network concepts switching, routing, perimeter security.Previous experience in a Datacentre Operations role, including hardware racking and cabling, across multiple datacentre locations.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.Excellent verbal and written communications skills.Strong background and understanding of enterprise datacentre structured cabling design.Good to have:Working knowledge on operating systems (Windows, Linux & Unix).Working knowledge on network devices switches, routers etc.Working knowledge on Storage boxes and Backup devicesExperience in setting up a datacentre from scratch.Candidates must be eligible to work in Ireland or currently hold a Stamp 1G/4 Visa to apply.
