Medical Billing Specialist

Medical Billing Specialist Medical biller/coder needed. This position is a work from home position. The position is Part Time with the potential for Full Time. Candidates must be able to assign the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes based on patient information when necessary. We are looking for a reliable, self-driven person who has the ability to work independently and abide by important government regulations and filing deadlines. The position is currently a part time position, but it may become full time if desired.

Responsibilities: Ensure that charges are entered and received by the payers, submitting electronic claims, printing and mailing paper claims, and ensuring all items are entered into the system in a timely manner Post charges and payments accurately, processing denials and insurance appeals Work claim denials to ensure maximum reimbursement for services provided Review provider’s coding for accuracy and in accordance to the visit documentation Identify and report error patterns when necessary Assist in the design and implementation of work flow changes to reduce billing errors Handle incoming billing related calls and make patient collection calls Track inaccuracies and report them to Supervisors Assist in the training of new employees if needed Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

Preferred Skills: Experience with sending electronic claims using medical billing software Advanced technical skills required to learn and navigate a variety of software systems including Practice Fusion EHR, Tebra, eClinicalWorks, BillrMD, install periodic updates to software programs, and work efficiently in a virtual environment Experience with physician medical coding and billing Advanced personal computing skills including MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel Ability to think/work independently, yet interact positively with a team Familiarity with current healthcare based technology and terminology Knowledge of Managed Care, Government Payers, and Private Payers

Pay Rate:

$17-$21 per hour

Qualifications:

• High School Graduate or GED
• 1 year of experience in Medical billing and coding
• Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology terms to support accurate code assignment
• Knowledge of accepted medical abbreviations and their meanings
• Abides by the standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health information Management Association (AHIMA)
• Access to high-speed internet Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
