Job Description
The role of Buyer requires a leader that can drive change in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment leveraging his/her strong interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will lead, coordinate, and support supply chain activities for the Commercial Solutions Division. The individual will be responsible for supply chain tactical and strategic activities to include continual improvement with our suppliers and manufacturing teams, as well as properly collaborating with and executing the ITW Welding Group Companies' strategies. People management, motivating and directing employees to optimize workplace productivity and promote professional growth. Workplace leaders, such as team leads, management to oversee workflow and boost employee performance on day-to-day activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Activities related to procurement, storage, and shipment of raw materials
- Leading cost, quality, delivery, productivity, and simplification activities
- Developing collaborative versus transactional relationships with key vendors
- Responsible for vendor negotiation (price, delivery, quality compliance)
- Develop and manage our supplier base
- Supplier visits and quality audits
- Proactively manage Corrective Action Request process
- Manage material price variance, inventory turns and site cost reduction programs
- Documentation of all cost savings and avoidances
- Supervise material handlers and seek out areas for simplification
- Communicate MRD adjustments to suppliers based on upon expected material requirements
- Responsible for maintaining MOH goals as well as limiting the non-"active" inventory classification
- Responsible for cycle counts and inventory management
- Manage the execution of ECN's
- Responsible for raw materials when transitioning from an existing product to new product
- Daily interaction with manufacturing and engineering staff
- Lead team of Material Handlers to support manufacturing production needs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Operations/Supply Chain/Business Management required
- Minimum of three years experience
- Previous experience in effective supplier management (price negotiation, delivery, quality)
- Ability to manage cost savings
- Proven track record of setting and accomplishing short and long term strategy and goals
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Must be a self-starter, conscientious, and enthusiastic with a positive attitude
- Demonstrated competency in prioritization and analytical skills
- Demonstrated excellence in the following skills: communication and negotiation
- Ability to embrace, build and promote a team environment
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and time management skills
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office package)
- Must be willing to travel as needed
