Job Description
Role Summary:
The key responsibility of the role is to design, develop and modify dies for plastic extrusion that will produce plastic zipper. The Die Design Engineer Intern’s primary focus will be supporting operations. The Die Design Engineer Intern will report to the Die Design Engineer.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design plastic extrusion profile DIEs with solid modeling SOLID WORKS software and flow modeling software
- Understand and apply Zip-Pak Design Guidelines to DIE designs
- Generate profile part drawings and die design plans based on Operation’s needs, for DIE manufacturing
- Provide Design solutions for Operation’s requirements using problem solving methodologies and Root Cause Analysis, in collaboration with Team and Design Engineer
- Design Review: Present solutions for Business needs and incorporate inputs from affiliated team members into final Design
- Update existing DIE designs to support ease of manufacturing and continuous product improvement efforts
- Maintains record keeping of controlled documents and their changes while following current processes
- Collaborate and provide input to DIE manufactures
Qualifications
Position Skills and Experience Requirements:
- Graduating with Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or relevant field with Design focus in 2024
- Knowledge and Experience with 3D CAD software, SolidWorks preferred
- Knowledge of Manufacturing process; CNC, EDM, Wire cutting Etc
- Basics of Product design and Tolerancing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Accurate and strong attention to detail
- Proficient in MS Office and related software
Additional qualifications (Plus but not necessary)
- Certification and previous working experience (Internship as Design engineer) of CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Previous experience as Design Engineer or Manufacturing engineer
- Basics of Polymers and flow modeling
Additional Information
Special Requirements:
Position requires travel locally of 10-20%.
