What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Manager position at ITW?
- Leads the Engineering team through the design, development, and implementation of new products and product changes for Air Register components in North America
- Ensures that product designs or design changes proposed by the Engineering or Operations team meet customer requirements and are design-feasible within the manufacturing, quality and commercial requirements
- Responsible in guiding the Engineering team and the cross functional teams to update and release the required APQP documents to support Customer launches (i.e.: Design requirements, CAD models, Drawings, Feasibility Documents, GD&T, Prototype tooling and parts, Key Product Characteristic, Tolerance stack up, CAE activities, Engineering specifications, PFMEAs etc.).
- Prepares and reviews cost models with the Engineering team and Operations, so that the Sales Teams can take them as basis for the Quotations
- Works with the Sales Leaders for Air Register to translate the Organic Growth Strategies into Annual and Long-Range Plan needs, that ensure business’s ability to meet or exceed organic growth and profitability goals
- Business partner for the Innovation team to understand customer pain points and market trends and to identify new product / application opportunities
- Execution of organic growth strategy for Air Register through the development of a high-performing, cross-functional team with a focus on talent development through structured competency models, talent acquisition and inclusive leadership founded in ITW Culture and Values and Leadership Development Framework
- Participates in regular product/application discussions with external customers, Project Managers, and Engineering teams from NA and other regions
- Execution of regular innovation meetings with customers to strengthen relationship with customer and discover customer pain points.
- Establish close relationship with production plant to support DFM and right first-time approach
- Keeps Engineering processes up to date according IATF 16949 and customer CSR. Attending internal as external audits of engineering organization.

Qualifications
- At least 5 years’ experience with engineering in the automotive industry;
- At least 2 years’ experience in an engineering management or innovation management role; Ability to build high performing teams that meet and exceed expectations
- Solid MS Excel abilities including working knowledge of budgeting and planning and both short and long-term planning.
- Solid technical skills, including part design, mechanical engineering, DFMEA, PFMEA and root-cause analysis
- Excellent communication skills, including MS PowerPoint, verbal and written, to meet a variety of stakeholder communication needs and at a variety of levels
- Excellent leadership presence, including communication and presentation skills for a multi-national business environment and adapting style to high-stakes customer meetings to employee townhalls to executive leadership discussions
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university in Engineering or related area;
- Willing to travel up to 30%; both domestic and internationally
- Basic knowledge in in CAD system CATIA or NX
- Good knowledge about plastic materials and kinematic components
- Good knowledge about manufacturing process like injection molding, assembly, automatization
