Just about any product you will have bought in a supermarket has to be checked to ensure it is free from contamination (i.e. metal, glass, stone, plastic) and is to the quality intended. LOMA Systems’ equipment is installed in many food production facilities around the world to protect us as consumers. You will get exposure to an industry you did not even know existed!

Position Scope:

Primary responsibilities for the position include the daily handling of inbound imports and customer shipments, communicating with the carriers, researching, and recommending best cost freight alternatives, monitoring carrier performance, producing required documentation, communicating daily shipping requirements, and notifying management of any problems or issues as they arise.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate shipments locally and internationally. This includes processing of bill of landings and interacting with freight companies to procure freight quotes/rates.
• Coordinate with Brokers for Customs, USDA, FDA clearance of imported goods. This includes providing correct HTS codes.
• Arrange ocean and truck shipments to include customs clearance, commercial invoicing, and packing list requirements.
• Communicate with freight forwarders and/or brokers to obtain rate quotes and track/trace shipments.
• Communicate with upper management and internal departments as well as report and record updates as shipment statuses change.
• Work with freight forwarders and/or brokers to resolve customs clearance issues; partner with customers and sales reps to provide respective documentation needed for clearances unique to each order.
• Establish and maintain relations with appropriate peers within other ITW business units, government regulatory agencies and Corporate Trade Compliance. Act as the primary interface with the relevant agencies.
• Handle and expedite settlements of all damage claims and ensure an expeditious solution to all problems resulting in the least inconvenience to the customer.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on imports & exports, compliance, and LTL/FTL.
• Maintain strong working relationships and communications with manufacturing and key suppliers to confirm production and shipping schedules.
• Monitor open purchase orders for all orders to ensure on-time deliveries to appropriate destinations.
• Ensure that relevant external requirements are met (e.g. ISO 9001).
• Responsible for order placement of floor stock items and blanket orders.
• Handle day to day buying of JIT items as needed to help the purchasing team ensure all parts are ordered in time to meet customer demand.
• Work with purchasing team to maintain KPI’s and OTD.
• Establish and maintain continuous improvement processes in support of company goals.
• In addition to the duties listed above, the position holder must carry out tasks assigned by their manager that are essentially related to their duties.

Requirements:

• High School diploma required. Associate’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, import/export or related job function required.
• Understanding of global customs regulations, harmonized tariff schedule, rules of origin, export classification, and general import/export operational procedures.
• Ability to manage all aspects of documentation processing, incoming and outgoing shipments, packaging, marketing customer interface, budget control, and carrier relationships.
• Strong attention to detail as well as analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills (oral & written); ability to effectively communicate ideas and convey messages to individuals at all levels in the organization ranging from shop floor personnel to Senior Management.
• Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain & logistics concepts and application.
• Effective negotiation skills.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities.
• Customer focused – team player and a collaborator
• High proficiency in the use of ERP Systems as well as Excel, SharePoint, and other Microsoft Office suites.
