Job Description
The PCB Designer position is a member of the Electrical Hardware Development team at MTS Systems. The team is responsible for developing and supporting a wide range of electrical products focused on high performance motion control and precision data acquisition. Our controller product lines enable MTS test and simulation systems to achieve world class precision force and motion control, providing our customers with unmatched performance, safety, and reliability for their most challenging mechanical testing needs. As a PCB Designer, you will have the opportunity to design mixed-signal PCBs and support new and existing MTS controller products.
- Onsite position only
- Requires the legal right to work in the USA for any employer without ongoing sponsorship.
Major Areas of Accountability
- Create and maintain symbols, footprints, and components in the Altium database.
- Work with Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to design PCBs that satisfy requirements for design for testability, manufacturability, and high-speed signal integrity.
- Generate documentation (Gerber and ODB files, assembly drawings, and BOMs) required for PCB fabrication and assembly
- Participate and provide input into process improvement as well as PCB design checklists and guidelines.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree or 2-year vo-tech certificate in analog and digital electronics
- 5 years schematic capture & PCB design experience using Altium Designer
- Experience with reading schematics and datasheets
- Experience with component library setup and management
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Scripting or programming experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using OrCAD schematic capture and Allegro PCB editor
- Working knowledge of IPC standards
- Experience designing analog, digital, and mixed-signal PCBs
- Experience designing multilayer (10 layer) PCBs
