Job Description
The Plant Operations Manager for our Motion - Frankfort Plant is a key leadership role in the division, responsible for achieving the goals and metrics of the manufacturing plant. This position is responsible to provide leadership for the overall Operations, Logistics, Production, and Quality targets for the plant and to drive operational financial improvement through ITW Enterprise Initiatives (FTB and Strategic Sourcing).
Operational Leadership -
• Direct and coordinate plant activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economics of operations. • Manage the plant operations to meet or exceed production requirements according to resources assigned in Annual Plan (AP) and Long-Range Plan (LRP) Plan. • Drive margin improvements - obtain, analyze, and improve all operational KPI’s of the plant by using ITW toolbox (80/20) MRD, PLS) and strategic sourcing initiatives. • Drive a culture of Safety including 5S to meet the goal of zero accidents • Best space utilization – 80/20 execution in/out manufacturing. • Review production cost and product quality and modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of plant. • Continuously seek and implement cost and waste reduction programs. • Proficient in all company policies and procedures as they are outlined and defined. People Leadership - • Lead Operations team members under direct responsibility (Tooling, Automation / Maintenance, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Customer Service, Sourcing and Logistics) to establish and deliver on stretch goals. • Review Organization Structure and Talent periodically to ensure ‘fit for purpose’, and address talent gaps as needed. • Focus and guide Talent Development with the aid of tools available as part of the ‘Great ITW Leader Framework’
Strategic Leadership-
• Lead the plant operations to manage and meet plant P&L commitments. • Play a key role in helping to develop Annual Plan and Long Range Plans for the plant • Develop “Best in Class” culture - A culture of performance, accountability, engagement, and teamwork. • Understand what it means to be a ‘Model Factory’ and Implement tools and change required to build a ‘Model Factory’
Qualifications
Position Skills and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university or five years’ experience as a manufacturing plant leader; good mechanical aptitude required. • 10 years in a manufacturing environment, preferably a just in time production cycle • Injection molding and/or Automation experience is a plus • Prior experience in automotive industry is a plus • Strong written/verbal communication skills; good listening skills; a team player who demonstrates the ability to relate to employees at all levels of the Company and who is sensitive to cultural differences. • Must be adept at analyzing facts and issues, identifying options, and able to decide and recommend a course of action. • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and change. • Customer Relationship Building skills to be a trusted advisor • Attention to detail, well organized and able to solve problems. • Ability to manage time in order to complete multiple tasks by required deadlines. • People driven and motivates others to excel; Ability to identify and develop leaders • Approachable, inspires trust and confidence. Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information. • Computer literacy required including user experience with manufacturing planning systems; Highly proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
