Located in Carol Stream, IL, the Regional Controller is involved in finance issues affecting the region of responsibility. The Regional Controller is expected to be a major contributor to the development and execution of the Annual Plan, manages the creation of financial statements for the unit, and assures that all month end activities are correct and timely. They must be an agent for change, collaborating on Operational Excellence initiatives (via 80/20, PLS, etc.) throughout their region, focusing on its customers and supporting business projects, and must drive the business forward through talent development & strong management.


Job Description


1. Lead, control and manage and lead the financial activities, transactions, and resources (people and processes) of the assigned region.

2. Ensure accurate consolidation and timely reporting of the region’s financial information in compliance with ITW policies and GAAP.

3. Effectively communicate and coordinate the exchange of financial information to key stakeholders in region – explaining data to management to drive business decisions. Help identify specific problems of the business and provide assistance to the regional stakeholders in the analysis of day-to-day problems.

4. Ability to create, manage and disseminate quantifiable metrics to help lead projects and provide support for operations, sales & Engineering and team to help make continuous improvements in the business.

5. Provide direction and assistance to all departments for preparation of the annual budget and annual plan used to measure and evaluate the financial status of the region/unit.

6. Establish and maintain financial calculations and representations in expense and capital expenditure requests. Establish, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and instructions to safeguard assets, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and applicable laws and regulations.

7. Provide oversight, in the functional area, for remote facilities/operations. Responsible for the review, implementation and documentation of internal controls. Ensures attainment of minimum average audit rating and to strive for above average rating for all locations within region.

8. Identify, lead and develop talent to maximize individual, team and organizational effectiveness in meeting company goals. This may include selecting and on-boarding talent; communicating effectively to foster a culture of engagement, cascading vision, creating goal alignment, and coaching through feedback, development planning and performance management.

9. Coordinates and participate with physical inventories and inventory grading on a periodic basis; assists in reduction of MOH and Slow-Moving and Obsolete inventory.

10. Champion the effective use of change management principles, strategies and techniques to plan, implement and evaluate change. Simplify processes & continually seek cost cutting and efficient ways to improve.

11. Maintain training and development plans for direct reports and overall department.

12. Participates in Corporate Accounting Initiatives including Peer Audits and Special Projects.

13. Maintain focus on continuous improvement by applying key Lean Manufacturing, 80/20, PLS, and USa production principles/techniques and makes process improvement recommendations to supervision and implements actions.


Qualifications


Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required

Experience/Skills:

1. Minimum five years’ experience in Finance, with a minimum of five years in a management capacity preferably in an industrial environment.

2. Strong cost accounting skills developed in manufacturing environments

3. Strong leadership ability with ability to influence

4. Ability to function as a business partner with all senior executives and their staffs

5. A continuous improvement mentality, with a capacity and energy to challenge the status quo and drive change throughout the organization.

6. Knowledge of all aspects of the business and disciplines.

7. Ability to recruit, motivate, coach and develop direct reports, creating a continuous learning environment.

8. Ability to identify and articulate problems, propose alternative solutions, have factual backup for decisions and question prior decisions if the result do not materialize as previously projected.

9. Strong information technology skills.

10. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required

11. Proficient in the knowledge and use of MS Office (Word, Excel).

1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, sit and type, occasionally twist/turn, reach above shoulder and outward, stand, walk, bend, grasp with hands on a regular, daily basis and lift, stretch, and squat throughout the day.

2. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to bring object into sharp focus.
