We are looking for a kind, compassionate, and professional individual to assist as a funeral director assistant on a full time basis. The funeral assistant will set up and assist with viewings, funeral services, memorial services, transfer remains from the place of death to the funeral home, and other tasks associated with services. Provides clerical and administrative assistance supporting funeral operations and creating a comfortable and hospitable space for families to grieve. The funeral assistant duties must be performed consistent with company mission and values and adherence to company policies and procedures. We are looking for professional and kind individuals to assist with funeral services, clerical assistance, and transfers. Attendance at staff meetings is expected.
MINIMUM Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record required
- Proficient with MS Office suite preferred; ability and willingness to learn required
- High level of compassion and integrity
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
- Professional behaviors and team player
- Reasonable strength, as this role frequently requires heavy lifting
- Be able to spend several hours on your feet.
Schedule would include day-time work schedule, three evening on call scheduled per week, and every other weekend work hours.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provides clerical and administrative assistance supporting funeral operations
· Prepares documents related to services, cremations, maintenance, as directed by management
· Prepares for services to include delivering and setting up floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, photos and other personal keepsakes or mementos of client families; ensures proper care and storage of any of these items
· Performs office duties such as answering phones and operating fax machine, printer, computer, multiline phone system, stereo/video system, and creating memorial folders and videos
· Run errands such as for floral delivery, picking up of supplies, documents, etc
· Serves as an usher and may park cars or perform any transportation requirements.
· Drives Funeral Home vehicles for services and errands
· Ensures refreshments are available
· Assist with visitations, memorial and funeral services which may include; visitation and chapel set up, dressing and casketing remains, delivering family items and flowers.
· Greets and receives families and / or other persons entering the office for information and assistance
· Accommodates the needs of the family during a service and/or visitation
· May wash and clean funeral home vehicles and other client vehicles as required from time to time
· Help by handing out programs and asking guests to sign the register book
· Transportation of flowers to place of final disposition
· Removing and transporting deceased individuals from their homes or hospitals to the funeral home during day time hours and scheduled on call evening hours.
· Assists with respectful preparation of remains of deceased, including dressing and lifting deceased, or operation of crematory, as permitted by law and in keeping with company regulations

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
