Laboratory Assistant

IVF Michigan Fertility Center is seeking a full-time laboratory assistant in Andrology and Embryology Labs. IVF Michigan Fertility Center is one of the leading fertility clinics with over 60 years of collective experience and has locations in Bloomfield Hills, Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Saginaw, Macomb, Toledo, OH and Grand Rapids. We are looking for a responsible lab assistant to carry out sampling, testing, measuring, recording and analyzing in cooperation with the rest of the lab team.

This position requires a 2-year commitment after 1 year of training. Orientation will be done in Bloomfield office.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests including pre- and post-analytic phases
• Specimen handling, processing and receiving
• Prepare samples/specimens for testing
• Test the specimen according to current SOP
• Produce accurate and reliable data and interpret results
• Follow methodologies in carrying routine tasks
• Document all activities, record results and insert/retrieve data
• Maintain work area and equipment
• Perform daily quality controls and calibrations for the tests to be performed
• Maintain proper documentation for CLIA, COLA, FDA and other government/accreditation agencies
• Provide data entry and administrative assistance
• Handling / transportation of frozen reproductive tissues
• Weekend and holiday rotations are required
• Flexible work schedule is needed
• Prior embryology knowledge and experience (preferred)
• Phlebotomy skills (optional)

Skills

• Proven working experience as a lab assistant or technician in a clinical lab
• Familiarity with automated laboratory equipment
• Computer literacy and experience with Laboratory Information Systems
• Accuracy and close attention to detail
• Strong analytical judgement
• Current license or relevant certification (optional)
• BSc degree in Medical Technology, Biology or related field

The candidate must have a US citizenship or a working visa without any sponsorship. We are looking for a highly motivated person that is detailed oriented and has excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
