Accounting Specialist

The Accounting Specialist manages day-to-day accounting activities related to business operations. This position also performs basic accounting and financial reporting functions, such as: general ledger entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, reporting, accounts payable input and coding. The Accounting Specialist assists in month end close and fixed assets tracking. 

Performs basic accounting functions, such as: general ledger entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, reporting, accounts payable input and coding.

• Assists the Controller and the Director of Finance in the day to day operations of accounting and finance in a fast-paced start-up healthcare environment.
• Generates and manages various reports.
• Performs bank reconciliations and assists in month end close and fixed assets tracking. 
• Maintains files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
• Perform basic data analysis to report recent and historical financial performance.
• Performs regular analysis of business outcomes vs prior period actuals and budget.
• Assists in the planning and implementation of various business processes in order to improve and support business processes and activities. 

Qualifications

• • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in accounting or finance. 
  • One year of experience in accounting. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with GL/Accounting software
  • Strong problem solving skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use technology to collect, manipulate data, determine significant findings, and present reports.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while maintaining accountability under strict deadlines.
