What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Clerk position at IWS?
Essential functions:
- Always follow the procedures outlined for the job being performed
- Always use the check list provided to ensure quality objectives are being met
- Performs work outlined in daily shipping schedule.
- Loads and unloads trucks in a safe and efficient manner
- Attends weekly and monthly safety meetings
- Perform visual inspection of product before shipping for aesthetics (quality of paint and welds), labeling/ branding, and adequate packaging. Returns product to upstream operations if quality or packaging issues are present.
- Maintains tools & machinery required for the job
- Works in a safe manner & obey all safety policies
- Works overtime if necessary
- Cleans work area each day. Keeps the storage yard on the south side of the plant free and clear of dunnage, metal banding, and other items.
- Communicates with Shipping Supervisor and Plant Foreman daily
Competencies:
- High school math skills. Will be required to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
- Must be able to operate a fork lift
- Ability to read measuring tape to 1/16".
- Ability to read schedules, drawings, and part numbers, or the ability to learn to do so.
- Ability to identify & count parts and subassemblies in order to complete internal inventory.
- Attention to detail and pride in workmanship
