We are looking for a highly motivated HR Generalist, who has outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and thrives in a high-paced environment. This role will guide employees through the human resource processes and answer any questions. The HR Generalist will assist with tasks across all functions of the HR department, including maintain employee files, administering benefits, conducting onboarding, and handling employee issues or questions. The position also has an active role in ensuring all human resource functions are complying with local, state, and federal regulations.

The HR Generalist is expected to be a conceptual thinker with fantastic organizational and time management skills. To ensure success, the HR Generalist should display strong problem solving and decision-making skills with an basic understanding of employee relationships and recruitment.

About the role

Essential Functions:

  • Support and guide employees through various human resource processes, answer any questions they may have about onboarding, benefits, and policies and procedures
  • Administrative support to the human resource function, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry
  • Facilitate and support team members across the business with the human resource processes and procedures

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all internal and external HR related inquiries, requests, and questions
  • Process new hires, status changes, and terminations in the HRIS system
  • Maintain employee files and ensure documents are filed appropriately
  • Complete Forms I-9, verify I-9 documentation, and maintain I-9 files
  • Create HR reports and submit to internal and external partners
  • Partner with managers and employees to file worker compensation claims in a timely manner
  • Help ensure policies and procedures are compliant with federal and state laws
  • Assist with payroll and ad-hoc HR projects
  • Coordinate HR events and summer internship programs
  • Conduct and facilitate new hire orientation
  • Administer health benefit plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations
  • Ensure benefit changes and employee deductions are updated in the HRIS system and with insurance providers
  • Audit benefit enrollments and reconcile statements and invoices
  • Screen and interview applicants to determine their skills, experience, and education
  • Assist with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, performing reference checks, and creating employment offer letters
  • Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process
  • Schedule interviews as requested by the hiring manager and the Director of HR
  • Assists with the preparation and communication of the performance review process
  • Coordinate training sessions and seminars
  • Keep up to date with the latest HR trends, and best practices
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • At least two years related experience required
  • HR certification or SHRM-CP preferred
  • Exposure to Federal, State and Local labor laws
