Job Description:
J.S. Held is searching for a Managing Consultant V to join our Digital Forensic team.
As a member of the digital forensic team, you will be applying your expertise and be advisors to our clients. You will be responsible for managing and conducting data preservation and forensic analysis using industry accepted forensic tools/best practices, developing, and growing the digital forensic team, and collaborating with our internal teams to ensure we are providing our clients with highest quality of work in a timely manner. You will also be relied upon to develop and execute thoughtful solutions to address our client’s needs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Using industry accepted tools/practices to perform the preservation electronically stored information (“ESI”) and validating preservation
- Perform investigative analysis on digital devices or electronic data using forensic tools such as EnCase, Axiom, Cellebrite Physical Analyzer, Cellebrite Inspector to carry out an investigation
- Secure transfer of physical and electronic evidence while maintaining chain of custody
- Follows best practices for client deliverables by performing quality control checks to ensure accuracy of client work product
- Prepare reports, budgets, and recommendations on client engagements
- Develop and implement workflows to solve complex data-related challenges
- Execute on projects involving the identification, organization, collection, processing, review, and production of electronic data
- Prepare summaries, data visualizations, written analyses, and other presentations of work performed
- Manage time and tasks to meet client deadlines
- Participate in internal and external meetings to review results of work performed
- Generate consistent and thorough documentation to support processes developed throughout the project
- Engage in consistent communication with clients to ensure timely completion of tasks, establish project goals, review associated costs, etc.
- Lead efforts to ensure high-quality client work product across project teams
- Engage daily with client activities, including interaction with client, internal J.S. Held team, and other stakeholders involved with engagement
- Taking ownership of projects and tasks with minimal supervision, and providing engagement updates to clients or team leads on a regular occurrence
- Proactive research and recommendations of technology solutions and process improvements that will ensure continued defensibility
- Travel to onsite to client locations for meeting, conducting interviews, or performing data preservations
- Maintaining clean work lab environment and organization of evidence and assets
Attributes & Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Digital Forensics, Information Technology, Information System, Computer Science, or a related field
- 8 professional years working in the Digital Forensics, eDiscovery, Litigation Support, or relevant experience
- Strong understanding of operating systems such as Windows and MacOS. Linux and UNIX experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of ESI hardware such as laptops, desktops, servers, mobile phone and tablets.
- Experience with forensic tools, such as EnCase, X-Ways, Axiom, FTK, Cellebrite [Physical Analyzer, UFED 4PC, Inspector, Digital Collector], Linux-based forensic tools
- Experience with cloud-based collaborative/data repositories such as M365, Google Workspace, DropBox, Box, Slack, Jira
- Experienced with E-mail systems and archivers such as Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes/Domino, Mimecast, Barracuda
- Proficient with eDiscovery review and processing platforms is a plus, such as Relativity, Reveal, Disco, Nuix, Law, MindsEye
- Proficient with building and implement scripts to automate various work-related tasks.
- Programming language such as SQL, VBA and Python knowledge is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
