The Transportation Manager is responsible for the execution, direction, supervision, and coordination of all fuel transportation matters for a designated region to ensure the ongoing success of our wholesale operation. In this role, you ensure customer needs are fulfilled in the safest, fastest, and most cost-effective methods possible. You ensure compliance of fuel terminal operations, DOT regulations and transportation industry state and federal laws and regulations. You train and develop drivers to be their best and are instrumental in the resolution of issues by drivers, dealer sites and or designated fuel terminals.
Some of what you’ll do as a Transportation Manager:
Hire, train, and supervise truck transport drivers.
Ensure compliance with all DOT and State transportation regulations.
Process invoices from vendors and approve for payment.
Review allocations and supply issues to minimize problems.
Develop weekly truck maintenance schedule and ensure it is followed.
Take trucks to the shop or arrange for the delivery of the truck to the shop.
Review drivers’ logs prior to filing.
Schedule truck polishing work at the proper intervals.
Review, approve, and submit drivers work time to Payroll for proper payment.
Conduct driver meetings and driver training.
Provide freight rates to marketing, as required.
Ensure drivers’ DOT files are up to date regarding Motor Vehicle Reports and medical examinations.
Review truck files to ensure annual inspections and permits are current.
Review vehicle inspection reports for maintenance issues.
With approval, contract outside carriers, as needed, to deliver excess business during peak seasons.
Coordinate with Human Resources and Payroll on driver employment paperwork matters.

You’ll be a great fit if you have:
Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, analytical, phone, and computer skills.
5 years prior experience in the petroleum transportation industry required.
The ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
Knowledge of all DOT and FMCSA regulations required.
A strong attention to detail.
A hazard material certification a must.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and twist; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must be able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours. Must be available for possible on-call shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
