Located in the heart of a national landmark town, the historic Jacksonville Inn upholds its 19th-Century charm with our lavish 8-room, 4-suite boutique hotel. * Within each room, you'll find all the romance and history of this historic Inn mixed with modern elegance, offering timeless comfort for travelers making their way to the Applegate Valley for business or pleasure.
*Starting in 2022 we will begin a full renovation for our 8 rooms, including our Wine Shop!
Job Details:
The historic Jacksonville Inn is seeking an experienced Manager to join our terrific team. Our ideal candidate has experience both in the wine and premier hospitality industry, is friendly, reliable, and detail oriented. Manager must have a passion for hospitality and customer service to oversee a team of staff and to execute Ownership’s overall goals and vision for excellence in hospitality and retail. What You’ll do:
Industry Knowledge and Outreach:
- Demonstrate experience both in the wine and premier hospitality industry
- Expand knowledge to build the brand of the businesses as industries continue to progress
- Place wine orders, negotiating rates and discounts, and make appropriate pricing recommendations
- Passion for wine —know how to enjoy it, what to recommend, and anticipate customers' needs
- Market the business and engage with the community to drive sales
Leadership:
- Manager must have a passion for hospitality and customer service to oversee a team of staff and to execute Ownership’s overall goals and vision for excellence in hospitality and retail
- Directly responsible for the staffing, succession planning, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, and ongoing development of employees
- Develop direct reports by creating action/development plans when necessary
- Provide performance feedback, including performance appraisals and development of department
- Create weekly department schedules within budgeted labor guidelines
- Balancing team member needs and business needs
- Create, develop, and implement incentive programs and contests for the department
- Actively motivate employees to participate in company promotions and incentives
- Provide counsel and information to all employees regarding their employment policies and benefits, rights, and responsibilities
Customer Service:
- Able to balance responsibilities of serving customers while running a profitable business
- Be outgoing and friendly, someone who can bring people into the store and give them a reason to stay
- Able to quickly assess customer needs and respond appropriately
- Able to discreetly handle customer’s concerns or complaints timely with a sincere approach to reach customer satisfaction and maintain business reputation
- Passion for genuine hospitality and a sincere desire to create cherished memories for our guests
Operations:
- Oversee all operations in wine shop and hotel as well as provide strategic direction
- Track wine and inventory, ensuring all items are priced properly and are visually appealing.
- Collect and submit inventory, sales, and tax data to the bookkeeper - daily
- Order all wine shop and hotel supplies
- Inform Ownership about the facility’s day-to-day maintenance needs
- Provide sales, financial, marketing data, reports, trends, resources, goals, and counsel to Ownership
- Network with vendors, local wineries, and community to build relationships and business opportunities
- Proactive in planning and organising hospitality events, developing a marketing plan, and performing marketing outreach duties, controlling costs, managing budgets, and setting and reaching sales goals
- Ensure company standards for guest experience, housekeeping, and facilities are met
- Responsible for implementing workflows and policies for all afterhours needs for facility and guests
- Establish the hotel's reputation for quality by inspecting rooms, public areas, and the surrounding grounds for cleanliness and upkeep
What You Need:
- 1 year hospitality/management experience
- Minimum 3 years of wine industry experience
- Previous experience in hiring, training, supervising, and scheduling employees
- Previous experience in marketing
- 3 years customer service experience
- Responsible with attention to detail
- Motivated and hard working
- Ability to relate positively and effectively with diverse people
- Support the goals of the hotel through teamwork and collaboration with all departments
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $42,000.00 per year
