This position supports the US Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM), Ground Combat Systems (GCS), Main Battle Tanks Systems (MBTS) Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Program. This position is partial telework, on location at Anniston Army Depot in Alabama and working from home.
Job Description
The Abrams FMS Production Support Specialist will provide support at Anniston Army Depot (ANAD) to the US Army’s Abrams Main Battle Tanks Systems (MBTS) for the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Program.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Serve as the project lead at ANAD in coordinating and managing the programmatic aspects of system integration leading to the fielding of high quality AGT1500 turbine engines for the M1 Abrams Family of Vehicles (FoVs).
- Communicate to PD MBTS FMS program status as observed from activities accomplished at ANAD.
- Develop solutions to communications or program execution challenges that may occur.
- Facilitate management of the engine overhaul process based upon facts found as a result of proper Army maintenance procedures.
- Track the day-to-day status of potential line stoppers and critical shortage parts with special interest focused on resolving integration, schedule, quality, manufacturing, and production program management issues between ANAD, PD MBTS FMS, TACOM item managers, DLA, Service Supply Activities, General Dynamics Anniston Operations (GDAO), and the various Process Action Teams.
- Track part shortages identified during field inspections, vehicle disassembly, and repair processes at ANAD and provide status of requisitions for those part shortages and assemblies shipped to and from vendors for repair and/or upgrade in support of Abrams FMS production programs at ANAD.
- Attend meetings to support the FMS Office.

Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma.
- Minimum 15 years specialized experience in working with/on tracked or wheeled ground combat vehicles in military or civilian capacity, working directly with PM offices, and working onsite at military installations.
- Secret security clearance.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience working in a US Government office with Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case(s) and direct knowledge of the FMS process, procedures, and case execution is preferred.
- Detailed knowledge and experience with the Abrams tank and its variants is preferred.
Essential Functions
Physical: May include lifting of weight up to forty (30) pounds as necessary.
Work Environment: Position is partial telework. Approximately 50% on site at the Detroit Arsenal (DTA) in Warren, MI, and approximately 50% telework, at the discretion of the FMS PPO Government leadership.
Travel to and from customer's locations will be required to support projects. Travel is approximately 10%. This will involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, seat belts must be worn, and no cellular devices are to be used when the vehicle is in motion.
Equipment and Machines: Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work-related tools as required. Possess heavy and light equipment licenses, or the ability to obtain the necessary licenses.
Attendance: Normal hours are Monday - Thursday between 6:00am to 4:00pm during flex weeks, 6:00am to 3:00pm on non-flex weeks. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements. With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.
Other Essential Functions: Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management, and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required. Travel (up to 10%) to and from customer locations and test locations (government and vendor) may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel.
